How do you rate Jon's legacy as a Heavyweight?

A duck artist who had a legit win over Cyril Gane, then whipped up on a retirement home version of Stipe and outright ducked his greatest threat in Aspinall. So basically, one genuinely impressive victory in my eyes, and a farce beyond that.

Jon ducked Tom by retiring after Stipe like he said he was going to do all the way back when Tom was still coming off his loss to Blaydes and wasn't even in contention.

Okay.

Anderson Silva moved up and beat Irvin , Bonnar and Griffin …..everyone saw that as helping his legacy

GSP Cherry picks one eyed Bisping and most are saying it helps his legacy

Jones moves up 30lbs and dominates Gane and Stipe

And apparently his legacy is fucked

Most of you letting the hate get in the way of common sense ….it’s laughable
I honestly don’t think those fights helped Silva or GSP’s legacies that much, but they obviously didn't have this entire fiasco along with it to make it an overall negative

But yeah I mean, Jones beating Gane is similar to Silva beating Irvin, a one off fight that’s cool, but doesn’t really mean that much in the grand scheme of things

The Stipe fight was literally meaningless, and an absolute joke and mockery of the sport

Took 3 years for him to actually take his first HW fight, talked about moving there about a decade ago.

Good win against Gane, cherry picked a fight with retired Stipe, acted like he beat the prime goat of the HW division and then clowned on the UFC, fans and Aspinall for the better part of the last two years.

- Dodged HW until Ngannou left, negotiated himself out of the fight.
- Dodged Aspinall until he retired, negotiated himself out of that fight as well.
- Openly admitted when Stipe was in his prime, that he would not want to fight him.
- Openly admitted that he wouldn't fight DC at HW.

His HW stint was just him cherry picking a couple fights and acting like they were monumental achievements within the sport.

He's the greatest LHW, no one can take that away from him. But he's been nothing but a clown for the last 5 years.
I think that sums it up perfectly

Jones did more than GSP in a higher division. But it was just a side project.

Why couldn't Ngannou finish Gane? He's a huge HW, much bigger than Jones, and went toe to toe with Fury in boxing.
He didn't need to. He dominated Gane on the ground, and won a easy decision.

Jon Jones' legacy at heavyweight is about on par with Jake Paul's legacy in boxing.

Yep, he held onto that HW belt for dear life. There's a reason why he never scheduled the fight, even with Tom kicking ass and taking names and begging for a shot as the interim champ. Jon wanted none of that smoke. It's something that will forever taint the tail end of his career.

About the same as Mousasi subbing Mark Hunt that one time I guess

One of the least impressive HW champs we've had to be honest, Brock had a better run.
Well of course Brock had a better run, he immediately faced the interim HW champion who was knocking everyone out in the first round and, I may be mistaken, but had the shortest average fight time as well at that time? It's funny how that parallels, that the pro wrestler who didn't like being hit in the face had more balls than Jones at the end of the day.

On basis of merit, Jon's is the weakest HW title reign since Ricco Rodriguez.

Why would Jon schedule a fight with Tom who was coming off a loss to Blaydes when Jon said Stipe was his last fight

Get your narrative straight

Jon's legacy is only in the LHW in which hes an ATG. The HW never seemed right, that wasnt his bodys natural frame up there. Kinda like Canelo sneaking up after Kovalev, grab his belt, then got cocky and tried once again to take Bivol's. Dat ended dat.

Undefeated and retired...

The only person to beat Jones is Jones himself..

LOL at everyone calling him a duck..

He owes u nothing...youngest champion who retired with a belt around his waist

The Gane win was decent, but it was all downhill from there. 2 years to beat a retired fire-fighter and actively duck the interim who would have destroyed him isn’t great.
