How do you rate Jon's legacy as a Heavyweight?

I don’t know he won two fights. You all wanted to see him fight at heavyweight for like 10 years and then after he does, it isn’t good enough. What a surprise.

While I didn't like Jones holding up the division either, people are way too butt hurt about this. Aspinall fought less than a year ago. At most, he probably would've fought and beat Gane during this time if Jones weren't in the picture.

The biggest problem for Aspinall is that he's a big fish in a shallow pond without much competition. If he fought in the era of Cain, JDS, early Stipe, Werdum, etc., we'd have a lot better idea how good he is. At this point, he's got maybe Gane and Almeida then a bunch of pointless rematches.

Jon ducked Tom by retiring after Stipe like he said he was going to do all the way back when Tom was still coming off his loss to Blaydes and wasn't even in contention.

Okay.
Except he ducked before he retired

Practically non-existent.

Beat two other HW's, who was potentially unworthy of a shot and one who was wearing Depends and drinking Ensure. Then obviously ducked two worthy contenders, toyed for a year+ with the MMA community and the UFC, and then suddenly retired. Made stupid unrealistic demands about pay and time to train, fled to Thailand during negotiations, and like only Germaine de Randamie could do, refused to fight the next fighter in line for BS reasons (because he thought Tom was an a$$hole? He thought the same of Cormier but didn't hesitate to fight him!

Jon punked out and his legacy is deeply damaged IMO. Not to mention all the drug cheating and criminal conduct over the years. The sooner the MMA community gets him out of their head, the better.

Beat Gane and the corpse of Stipe, not bad but also not great either, won a vacant belt, his legacy comes from dominating LHW, not his 2 fights at HW, 1 almost an exhibition of former champions.

Why would Jon schedule a fight with Tom who was coming off a loss to Blaydes when Jon said Stipe was his last fight

Get your narrative straight
If Stipe was his last fight, why didn't he retire right then and there? Why drag it out, wasting Tom's prime years and holding up the entire division for no good reason? Jon spent his last year as a duck, refusing to fight a man who's been on an absolute tear and has the potential to be one of the greatest heavyweights the UFC has ever seen.

Kinda like GSP's middleweight run. Just a little cherry on top of an otherwise excellent career.

Albeit, GSP's was better.

Trash. He had one good win against Gane and then ruined it by refusing to defend against actual contenders.

The Stipe fight was the biggest farce and the definition of a paper champion fight. Stipe looked terrible in his last fight against Ngannou, and already looked washed. Then he retired for 3.5 years before fighting Jon.

Jon's legacy is going to be him in prison.

I rank it as much as when gsp came
Back and fought bisping. It was just an easy pay day and another belt to add to the wall. Nothing more, nothing less.

Idk. I don’t remember a lot of people believing Mike was going to win anyway no matter which path he took to his second title defense

impressive win, then a BS cherry picked defence, followed by the biggest duck in MMA history. Not a good he legacy

Tbf, to expect him to start defending against contenders ten years younger than him when he's 37-39 years old was always kind of suspicious. He moved up to score a title and a defense and bounce.

same as GSP at MW. ran in to cherry pick a belt and then ran out again. only difference being GSP was classy enough to admit what it was and left immediately.

Allowed to cherry pick opponents to get the belt and get a defense. Tucked his dick and ran at the sight of real competition. Hes a coward at the end of the day.

Well, he started his UFC HW career the same as Paul Buentello. So, there's that as a comparison

His "legacy" was ducking Ngannou and Aspinall.

He was hoping the fanbase was stupid enough to buy his BS but unfortunately for him he's been exposed as duck.

Full of failed tests, gift decisions and asterisks. And he ended it by ducking 2 dangerous guys (Ngannou and Aspinall) to fight an old, physically diminished and retired Stipe who came back for a paycheck.

Jones' full of shit
