Jon is the greatest fighter of all times. He’s very smart about how he fights and WHO he fights. That’s why he never moved up to face the winner of JDS/Cain, pre diverticulitis Brock, Ngannou or Aspinal. He’s high on mileage now and clearly past his prime. The guy wants none of Aspinal and understandably so. I’d do the same in his position, fight a 45 year old firefighter to pocket in a few mills and leave the sport healthy and unbeaten. Goat shit.

I get why people dislike Jon vs Stipe and holding the belt hostage, but it's more UFC fault rather than Jon. They are the one who let Jon and Stipe do this, if you guys were all in Jon's position you would do it too. I love Alex Pereira, I made tons of threads about him. He is an exciting and very active champ. But he is also the same guy who got outwrestled by Jan, who in his own got outwrestled and submitted easily by 42 year old Glover who in his prime cannot do anything to Jon Goat Jones.

Yeah Jones ducked Ngannou for sure. I'm rewatching Jones vs Reyes and seeing how Reyes lights Jones up with punches, I'm not so sure Stipe is a walk in the park... Maybe Jones raises his level when he needs it though

Jones arguably lost to Reyes and Santos, got 'champion' favorable judges nod both fights.
...Those two performances were not his A game, probably C- or D fight games. If he performs like that against Stipe, even a senior citizen Stipe, he could lose. Unless he gets favorable judge decision.
...But if he only fights Gane and senior citizen Stipe at HW, it is okay, but not that great of an achievement.
...Would have been better to stay at LHW fighting the current crop and stay away from HW.

....Wanting to move up to HW and avoiding prime Ngannou is major knock on Jones.
...Could have fought younger Stipe and still in decent shape HW Cormier also. That would have been impressive.

Jon Jones has nothing left to prove, he is already the most accomplished fighter of all time and if you want to DQ him for roids then him fighting Aspinall should be irrelevant to you anyways in terms of his legacy

I’m a big jones hater, but in this case he’s right. Aspinall has done nothing to deserve to fight the goat. The biggest name on his resume is 49 year old Arlovski.
