Do you really care if a General is a little overweight then? Should we throw away 30 years of honed expertise for that reason, when they’re at an age and position where they aren’t going to be fighting on the front line anyways?

Definitely get being a good example to, but the fact is a lot of generals aren’t out there inspiring troops to perform anyways. That’s power level command that keeps their troops in shape. That’s exactly why we are hearing this speech from Pete- because all of his experience is at the lowest levels of the military. He’s regurgitating and attitude that is pervasive and necessary at lower levels, but not at strategic levels

We can and have always done just that. Standards have gone up in the last 5 years, not down. Physical fitness tests are already uniform for both genders. Certain combat MOS still require all persons to meet the same standards. Hegseth is spouting out a bunch of bullshit.

He is stating his plans to butcher resources for victims of abuse and misconduct while providing protection for those under investigation. Removing protections for reporting parties and actively discouraging reporting of misconduct. He's pushing for frivolous policies that disproportionately effect women and minorities. Policies, mind you, that dont even effect readiness.

This speech was a waste of time and money. He just wanted to stroke his ego infront of a bunch of people that got further in their careers than he could manage. He's dragging military standards of good order and discipline through the god damned shitter
