Well you bring up an interesting point with this. Was the Hamas attack of 10/7 actually WORSE than the unprovoked invasion and occupation of Iraq? I can't imagine anyone even attempting to make that argument. But I doubt any of these Americans would think that it would be morally defensible for their own neighbourhood to be blockaded and bombed by a hypothetical stronger military power.
Look at all those terrorist sympathizers!! Would it be a tragedy if that stadium full of human shields was MOAB'd? Or do they deserve to die the same way Palestinian babies do?
There's something to be said about if you can defend the Iraq War WMD debacle, you can defend anything. The level of hypocrisy of course knows no bounds. I've brought it up a few times already in the collective punishment "debate".
It's also a reason why I spend little time in these kinds of threads. Reality is 99% of participants just have pom-poms on and have no interest in formulating any rational structure or theory to right and wrong; hence, constant inconsistencies, moving of goal posts, taking liberties with language and definitions, whitewashing history, quoting known liars / avoiding serious sources, correcting only one side when someone says something completely wrong, and so forth.
Honestly, with every micro-debate here about who was in Palestine first, is it an open air prison, is it a humanitarian crisis, who bombed the hospital, how many innocent people are dying, the definition of a jew or arab, what is anti-semitism, what's the role of international law, the definition of a terrorist, and on and on and on; no matter how often someone happens to be factually incorrect about anything or all these things they may have been misinformed about, it's not going to change anyone's opinion.
So when you get something as disastrous as that WMD manufactured war and the complete lack of desire to implicate and punish ANYONE, let alone an entire society, you realize the vast vast majority of commentators out there looking for blood with their nose up high about their moral superiority to other commoners they are completely intellectually dishonest and inconsistent about their views and are, whether knowingly or not, just grabbing at anything they can to try to obfuscate that fact.
