Guy Fawkes Night

I don't know about that, but I was mildly disappointed not to find any human remains when I looked in it this morning. I was hoping some local gangsters had decided to use the skip as a method of disposing of one of their rivals.

Alas, it was not to be:)

I don't bloody believe it!

It's kicking off in Edinburgh again.

@KnightTemplar stay safe!

This picture seems to be from last year.

Police in Edinburgh came under attack by youths who hurled fireworks and bricks at their vehicles last night.

The attacks prompted leader of Edinburgh City Council Cammy Day

to call for fireworks to be banned in the Scottish capital, citing similar problems last year. The latest incidents occurred on Thursday at about 10pm, with a dramatic picture showing a face off with officers and the mob.

Police Scotland said a number of people had targeted its vehicles, as well as public transport vehicles, with fireworks and other projectiles, including bricks, at Hay Avenue, Edinburgh.

One police officer was injured after the window of the vehicle she was within was struck by a brick, causing the window to smash.

More incidents of fireworks related disorder were also responded at Moredunvale Road, Southhouse Road and Captains Road as well as West Pilton Park, where a number of buses were targeted.

Firework Control Zones (FCZs) have now been introduced in four areas of Edinburgh - Niddrie, Calton Hill, Seafield and Balerno - making it a criminal offence to use most fireworks between November 1 and 10 unless it is part of a licensed display.

Thanks, man. Unfortunately, attacking emergency service workers around this time of year has become an Edinburgh tradition. A bit like Devil's Night in Detroit. :(

I fully support banning the private sale of fireworks. Only professional shows that are checked and approved by police should be allowed to use fireworks.

Good to see young people keeping the traditions of Mischief Night going!

Halloween 'carnage' erupted on a Hartlepool housing estate as gangs of hundreds of youths ran amok.

Swarms of teenagers gathered at various locations in the town’s Bishop Cuthbert estate on Thursday night, where they reportedly launched fireworks at each other, and even at police. One eye witness saw a teen throw a firework, which landed beside a man walking his dogs, leaving the animals terrified.

A teen was allegedly attacked 'over money', while others walked around selling fireworks, one resident reports. In another shocking incident, a homeowner’s perimeter garden bush was set alight, with a video shared on social media showing the flames.

Numerous police vehicles were called to the usually family-friendly estate, from 7pm onwards until later in the evening, when Cleveland Police slapped a dispersal order on the estate. The order gives officers the powers to disperse those believed to be involved in antisocial behaviour from the designated area immediately.

One passerby, a woman in her 40s who did not wish to be named, said: “It was actually insane, total carnage. There were hundreds of youths in gangs just holding lit fireworks in their hands and pointing them at other teenagers. The fireworks were just firing into smaller groups. It was just mental and I really don’t know how someone wasn’t seriously injured.”

A farm owner has been left 'devastated' after an early morning fire ripped through his land, killing livestock and destroying property.

Cleveland Fire Brigade rushed to the scene after a blaze broke out on Margrove Park, Charltons, in Guisborough on Friday morning. The brigade confirmed they attended the incident at around 4.49am and sent crews from Coulby Newham, Guisborough, Redcar, Saltburn and Skelton to the scene.

A spokesperson told Teesside Live two sheds were among outbuildings destroyed in the flames. He said: "Cleveland Fire Brigade were called on the 1st of November, 2024 at 4.49am to an incident on Margrove Park, Charltons, Guisborough. Five fire engines were in attendance from Coulby Newham, Guisborough, Redcar, Saltburn and Skelton. One smallholding including two sheds which were well alight. Incident has been scaled back but crews remain on scene on protective standby.”

Pictures from the scene show several outbuildings destroyed by the flames as bales of hay burn. In a later update on Twitter, the brigade said the owner has been left 'devastated' and livestock were lost in the blaze.

They said: 'Cleveland Fire Brigade were called at 4:49 on Friday, November 1 to an incident at Margrove Park in Guisborough where a local farm was alight. The owner has been left devastated by the loss, and we extend our thoughts and sympathies to them during this difficult time.

Despite best efforts, the blaze resulted in the loss of a substantial number of livestock, around 600 bales of hay, two barn sheds and equipment including a tractor and digger.'

The farm fire is presumably arson. There have been several farm fires in the area in the last few years, and as far as I can remember they all started at night. There was actually a serial arsonist in the area in the mid/late 90s who burnt the library down, as well as starting some other major fires, and he wasn't caught. Not for arson, anyway. Setting fire to commercial buildings or something, while obviously still a serious crime, isn't so bad, but setting fire to buildings with animals in and destroying a library is barbaric.

This day always confuses me. A Catholic terrorist seeking to destabilize the monarchy in order to empower the papacy becomes a celebrated revolutionary figure around the globe while in England they celebrate burning someone alive in favor of saving staunchly pro human rights religious order with traditionalist values and turn into it a low key Halloween clone which often used to burn effigies of their own pollical figures who form part of the system they celebrate saving.

Oh yeah I didn't spot the covid emblem.

The war of Catholicism Vs Protestantism has been rolling on in Europe for over a millennia. Northern Ireland and Brexit for example.

There is a real cause, but you know "anarchy in the UK"

A man has reportedly been found 'decapitated' on the streets of Cowgate, following eyewitness accounts from an Edinburgh University student.

Officers were called to the scene at around 7:30pm on Saturday the 2nd of November.

Police Scotland have released a statement saying, 'Shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday, 2 November, we responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing. As a result, Blair Street, Guthrie Street and Candlemaker Row are closed to pedestrians and traffic. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.'

There seems to be confusion and conflicting reports on what happened and whether it's a Halloween (season) prank or not.

Fireworks are normally a bit boring tbh unless they're put on by profesional companies. Flaming barrels of tar on the other hand.

I like fireworks and bonfires. The burning tar barrel events look good though although I've never seen one. There's one in Ottery St Mary in Devon, and one in Allendale in Northumberland. Maybe there are others idk.

Up Helly Aa in Shetland is fun too. They just made it up in the 19th century, like a lot of 'Scottish culture'.

@650lb Sumo it's kicking off again tonight. Scumbags are throwing fireworks around near a petrol filling station. Let that sink in:

Fireworks + Large amounts of petrol(gas).

What could possibly go wrong.

Riot police and the police helicopter have been deployed.

Well fawke!

The official story is the poor chap got his neck caught in the wheel-arch of a single-decker bus while drunk, and it severed his head.

Apparently the first guy who found the head thought it was a stunt for Halloween. So he picked up the, "fake" head. Hilarity ensued.

Said daughters husband later kicked off a war that killed nearly half of Europe. Maybe if they were ruling England instead of pursuing Bohemian crown life might have been better for everyone.
