Police arrested three people at bonfire celebrations in Lewes last night – including two on suspicion of racially aggravated offences.

About 50 young people have clashed with riot police in Edinburgh, with fireworks and petrol bombs being thrown directly at officers.

Video footage from the Niddrie area of the city showed officers in riot gear standing in a line while youths threw explosives at their feet.

Police were called to the Hay Avenue area at 4:40pm after reports of 'antisocial use of fireworks'.

Footage showed a stand-off between youths and police in Niddrie.

Police Scotland said it had faced 'unprecedented levels of violence' while policing Bonfire Night disorder.

It added two police vehicles were damaged in Dundee after being struck with bricks, while in Glasgow police received a report of two groups of youths throwing fireworks at one another.

This day always confuses me. Whats confusing? Fawkes would have bombed out the entire government if he would have succeded.
