GSP made Hendricks tap 20 seconds into the fight

Do any of the people who spam posts about Hendricks winning the GSP fight think that it the best version of GSP and not the most juiced and prime version of Hendricks? It was post ACL GSP (1 or 2 ACL injuries?) who confessed mental struggles and the likelihood of retirement pre-fight. Fighters decline.

N yet Hendricks still made him ran away from the sport in his prime...

Hendricks didn’t fail any tests. you can’t claim he was juiced, but then pretend gsp was clean.

Also gsp was still in his prime n big majority of athletes (over 90%) make full recovery after acl surgery.

Totally different.

GSP had Hendricks in a submission, and Randy Couture had Tito on the ground basically crying, and was laughing while he smacked his butt.

The two situations are incomparable.

Randy was actually tapping. If ref stopped that fight he couldn’t really complain

Hendricks “looks” like he tapped once, but you’re supposed to fight until ref stops the fight.

Also gsp didn’t even realize it n never mentioned it after the fight

Nope.. How?

Gsp had a takedown ..landed more strikes standing, had a guillotine and was initiating and controlling the grappling exchanges..

Hendricks was way more effective.

Gsp couldn’t control Hendricks with his td, n his “sub attempt” was a split second.

Those elbows against the cage were more effective than anything gsp did in that round

5 shots doesnt win a round..

GSP landed several good body shots and two partial headkicks. . and was the aggressor through out the round

I look forward to next month when this thread and the anti-GSP threads pop-up again...and again

same arguments over and over and usually the same people.

I agree I thought GSP won the fight. People including Hendricks looks at his face and think he won. GSP won

1 3 5 ...all day bud..

Out struck him and controlled the action in round 1

Battled back in the 3rd after the beating in the 2nd..with a mixed attack

And dominated round 5 on a gassed resting waiting hendricks
When was the last time you watched the fight? GSP clearly lost the first round.

GSP 1,2 (yes, even 2) ,3,5
What the fuck are you talking about???
Hendricks had takedown too, landed harder and better shota and totally controlled the clinch=grappling exchanges.Just like rest of the fight.
The guillotine attempt in round one was the slightest difference maker in that round imo.
  • GSP had a takedown - So did Hendricks. Unlike GSP's takedown Hendricks was able to keep GSP on his back for a few seconds. Hendricks also stuffed GSP's 2nd takedown attempt and landed 2 good uppercuts and 5 uncontested elbows to the side of GSPs head, cutting GSP, the most significant strikes of the round. So a takedown where GSP wasn't able to keep Hendricks on his back, did no damage, and Hendricks was able to get up to his feet again.
  • Had a guillotine and was initiating and controlling the grappling exchanges - A guillotine that was short lived and did nothing. Had a takedown that did nothing and wasn't even able to control Hendricks on the ground. So to you a takedown with no control is > a takedown with control + a stuffed takedown with 7 damaging strikes being landed on the guy that failed at the takedown cutting him open in the process, yeah ok.
  • landed more strikes standing - Per the stats below Hendricks landed more strikes in the 1st round, it was virtually identical either way for strikes landed and we all know who hits harder.
Grappling (R1)

GSP took down Hendricks, couldn't keep him flat on his back, didn't land anything on him, and Hendricks gets up suffering no damage and never being controlled. GSP shoots for another takedown is immediately stuffed and Hendricks lands 2 solid uppercuts and GSP backs him against the fence. Hendrick proceeds to land 5 elbows in a row to the side of GSP's head cutting GSP and forcing GSP to abandon his takedown. Hendricks then reverses GSP and takes him down holding him down against the fence for a few seconds, not much but he was at least able to put GSP on his back. Hendricks got the better of this.

Striking (R1)

GSP was landing decent body and leg shots throughout the round. His best shot was a head kick with around 1:30 left in the round. Nothing however stunned Hendricks or seemed to do much damage. Hendricks best shots were a grazing knee around 1:54 left that knocked GSP off balance followed by an uppercut. GSP got the better of this.

Clinch (R1)

Much like the Grappling GSP started stronger but Hendricks Clearly won. GSP landed good body shot and initiated knees to the inner leg. Hendricks started returning the knees to the inner leg. The difference is GSP's had little impact while every knee Hendricks landed on GSP moved his whole body and sent his leg flying back. Hendricks body punches were more powerful than GSP's as well. He also landed those 5 hard elbows that cut GSP open and those 2 nice uppercuts to the head. Hendricks easily won here.

Landing harder shots, landing the more significant/harder head shots, stuffing a takedown while dealing damage and cutting open your opponent, and landing a better takedown when you each land one is enough IMO to win the round.

This is how I had scored the fight (I'm neither a GSP or Hendricks fan):

Round 1 | 10-10 Draw
1st Minute: GSP; takedown, guillotine attempt
2nd Minute: Hendricks; punch/elbow while defending takedown.
3rd Minute: Hendricks; takedown, clinch
4th Minute: GSP; striking
5th Minute: Draw; clinch, striking

Round 2 | 10-9 Hendricks
1st Minute: Hendricks; striking (wobbled GSP)
2nd Minute: Hendricks; striking, clinch
3rd Minute: GSP; striking
4th Minute: GSP; striking
5th Minute: Draw; striking

Round 3 | 10-9 GSP
1st Minute: Draw; striking
2nd Minute: GSP; striking
3rd Minute: Draw; striking
4th Minute: GSP, striking
5th Minute: Draw; clinch

Round 4 | 10-9 Hendricks
1st Minute: GSP; striking
2nd Minute: Hendricks; top control, short elbow cut after GSP slipped/tripped
3rd Minute: Hendricks; striking
4th Minute: Hendricks; striking, clinch
5th Minute: Draw; clinch

Round 5 | 10-9 GSP
1st Minute: Draw; takedown attempt
2nd Minute: GSP; striking, takedown
3rd Minute: Draw; clinch
4th Minute: GSP; striking
5th Minute: GSP; clinch, takedown

48-48 Draw

It really comes down to how you score the first round (which then comes down to how much weight you give an elbow vs. a guillotine); the remaining four rounds are really easy to score.

This is what GSP's face looked like after the Diaz fight (which GSP dominated), which is why you can't judge a fight based on superficial damage.

OK, I respect your scorecard I just thought GSP boxed him up in rd. 2 so I gave that rd. to Georges.

Ok..

He was damaged in two rounds out of 5 rounds...cuts and damages dont always tell the story of the fight bud..

You do understand how MMA is Judged right ..round by round...

Yes n Hendricks beat up gsp the entire time. He decided to take a break in the 5th thinking he was wAy up on scorecards.

you don’t end up looking like that if you’re winning

Great breakdown..thanks for your time

Its a great fight and a great source of debate for fans ...Im open to the idea of a draw it was the closest and toughest fight of GSPs storied career and Hendricks would get his title , regardless of this fight..so hes top notch too

Your right the first round is the contested round and IMO the guillotine and the mixture of GSPs aggression and overall varied striking attack out weighs the few good shots hendricks landed and a takedown that amounted to nothing as gsp got back up..

GSP looked roughed up agaisnt Bj penn and Nick Diaz..guys he both beat and beat convincingly...

So you sure you want to use GSP being damaged as your defense?

Look at @acannxr post above ..solid post and break down that shows u how to look at the fight

1st bj penn fight was sd...

n gsp won both fights with his grappling, getting td after td. He wasn’t beating them up on the feet
