GSP made Hendricks tap 20 seconds into the fight

GSP must be a fucking noob if he had that guillotine locked in with a potential tap but let go and switched positions. If that sub was remotely locked in, GSP wouldn't had switched positions.

Look how juicy GreaseSP looks here ^ holy shit

Yet they were both at UFC 217 and Hendricks begged "if GSP loses his fight and I win mine I hope to qualify for a rematch!"

Hendricks really needs to lewrn the double tap from conor. Leave no doubts

No, he didn't tap, but that guillotine attempt is what slightly edged him round 1 and thus ultimately gave him the fight.

When was the last time you watched the fight? GSP clearly lost the first round.
I don't think it's that clear if we're arguing about it 7 years later. Everyone that had gsp winning had it 1, 3, and 5.

Definitely 3 and 5.

Hendricks definitely won 2 and 4.

Round 1 was 27-26 for Hendricks in total strikes with 19-18 for GSP for significant strikes.

Call it a draw if you like, GSP keeps the belt anyway.

The guillotine attempt in round one was the slightest difference maker in that round imo.

That wasn't a tap. It MIGHT have been playing the game, fake tapping where the ref can't see it. But if a fight had been stopped on THAT .... sorry, that's instant rematch, and the uFC slips Hendricks half a mil under the table. To me, GSP won that fight. But if they had given it to Hendricks, I wouldn't be screaming 'robbery'.

Hendricks did more damage. The ten point must system beat him, not GSP

I can see why people would see that, but it wasnt a tap. He was already letting go and changing position when it happened. I'm sure gsp would know if it was right and he could finish. He wouldnt have let it go so fast if he thought for a second it was a tight guillotine that could put him out.

Nope.. How?

Gsp had a takedown ..landed more strikes standing, had a guillotine and was initiating and controlling the grappling exchanges..

  • GSP had a takedown - So did Hendricks. Unlike GSP's takedown Hendricks was able to keep GSP on his back for a few seconds. Hendricks also stuffed GSP's 2nd takedown attempt and landed 2 good uppercuts and 5 uncontested elbows to the side of GSPs head, cutting GSP, the most significant strikes of the round. So a takedown where GSP wasn't able to keep Hendricks on his back, did no damage, and Hendricks was able to get up to his feet again.
  • Had a guillotine and was initiating and controlling the grappling exchanges - A guillotine that was short lived and did nothing. Had a takedown that did nothing and wasn't even able to control Hendricks on the ground. So to you a takedown with no control is > a takedown with control + a stuffed takedown with 7 damaging strikes being landed on the guy that failed at the takedown cutting him open in the process, yeah ok.
  • landed more strikes standing - Per the stats below Hendricks landed more strikes in the 1st round, it was virtually identical either way for strikes landed and we all know who hits harder.
Grappling (R1)

GSP took down Hendricks, couldn't keep him flat on his back, didn't land anything on him, and Hendricks gets up suffering no damage and never being controlled. GSP shoots for another takedown is immediately stuffed and Hendricks lands 2 solid uppercuts and GSP backs him against the fence. Hendrick proceeds to land 5 elbows in a row to the side of GSP's head cutting GSP and forcing GSP to abandon his takedown. Hendricks then reverses GSP and takes him down holding him down against the fence for a few seconds, not much but he was at least able to put GSP on his back. Hendricks got the better of this.

Striking (R1)

GSP was landing decent body and leg shots throughout the round. His best shot was a head kick with around 1:30 left in the round. Nothing however stunned Hendricks or seemed to do much damage. Hendricks best shots were a grazing knee around 1:54 left that knocked GSP off balance followed by an uppercut. GSP got the better of this.

Clinch (R1)

Much like the Grappling GSP started stronger but Hendricks Clearly won. GSP landed good body shot and initiated knees to the inner leg. Hendricks started returning the knees to the inner leg. The difference is GSP's had little impact while every knee Hendricks landed on GSP moved his whole body and sent his leg flying back. Hendricks body punches were more powerful than GSP's as well. He also landed those 5 hard elbows that cut GSP open and those 2 nice uppercuts to the head. Hendricks easily won here.

Landing harder shots, landing the more significant/harder head shots, stuffing a takedown while dealing damage and cutting open your opponent, and landing a better takedown when you each land one is enough IMO to win the round.

Hendricks won the fight. Gsp looked like he had been in a car accident. And was hearing aliens in his head and retired. Almost immediately.

Big Rig beat the shit out of GSP and got jobbed in the Decision.

Neither takedown amounted to much to be fair ..and the clinch was close to even as well but GSP was being the aggressor for most of the round trying to mix his attack something he did successfully in round 3..the submission attempt was alot closer to ending the fight then anything hendricks did..

As for striking again very close but GSP was landing the better shots more consistently...Hendricks landed only a few good shots as he was sprawling that one time.. The rest of the round he was being fired at from range and hit repeatedly with body shots and knees..dont be fooled by joe rogans yelps everytime hendricks threw or landed something gsp was hanging tough and firing back all round..

The round is either is a tie at best or a win for GSP...IMO

What the fuck are you talking about???
Hendricks had takedown too, landed harder and better shota and totally controlled the clinch=grappling exchanges.Just like rest of the fight.

Hendricks did not control the grappling at all..hell..he had gsp down for what 5 secs. Did nothing with his takedown neither did GSP ...except for a potential fight ending choke..hendricks only landed a few solid shots all round while gsp hit him with decent well placed shots for most of the round..dont be fooled by the commentary of joe rogan ohhing and awwing everytime hendricks threw something..GSP was coherent and firing back all round never took a back step ..meanwhile hendricks had his back pressed agaisnt the cage several times..GSP was bringing a varied attack something he successfully did in round 3

I dont need rogan to know what i saw.I dislike rogan after all.
He actually held gsp down longer than gsp held him(if that matters).
He landed better and harder shots than gsp
Controlled the clinch entire fight and reversed gsp when he tried to wrestle there easily.
Watch bjj scout video on their fight and see who did better.

A handful of shots does not win a round...GSP struggled with the strength of hendricks at times in the clinch yes but GSP also did great work with knees and strikes in the clinches as well , he even landed a partial headkick in the first..and he was the one initiating the grappling he was the aggressor for the majority of the fight

Lol a guy who's never grappled a day in his life....

Everyone points to the elbows against the cage. Well sorry those didn't rock gsp or anything, they made him give up on a takedown attempt and that's it. The offense in the first was very close.
