Grade the Jaws films

Incidentally I always thought this guy was a bit creepy when he approaches the children to ask if they are OK. Thought his death was well deserved.

Apparently from the script he was the kids scout master.

He was telling them to tie a certain knot. A sheet bend ( Weavers knot).

Must saw first glance i read grade the Jews films ........ thought might take a minute lol

Incidentally Jaws the book is a damn good read if anyone interested. Characters / story a bit different to the movie. I won't say any more.
I didnt like it. I felt like the book is alot shittier than them movie. I read the book as a kid after seeing the movie a million times and was like Hooper is trying to sleep with Brody's WIFE!??!

I was so mad. It was like the book was lying to me. No way Hooper would ever do that !!!!

I'm not doing the 1-100 rating, but from best to worst (imo) with a rating out of 10

1. 9.5/10. A top tier near perfect film.
2. 7/10. A solid sequel, does nothing new but does nothing wrong either.
4. 5.5/10. I grew up with the tv version which nullifies a few goofy moments like for instance the shark doesn't explode when it gets impaled by the ship. It's campy and absurd at times and you should never look at it as an actual sequel (nothing after 2 should be), but it's well shot and entertaining and has a pretty good cast that does a good job despite the material.
3. 5/10. This one's campy but not in the same fun way Jaws The Revenge is, it's kind of bland for a 3-D movie when Friday the 13th part 3 and Amityville 3-D were much better 3-D sequels. Good cast, interesting premise, but doesn't do a whole lot with it.

I've only watched the first. And that is GOAT-level.

Quint's USS Indianapolis monologue is one of the finest performances by an actor in any film. It's a travesty that Shaw wasn't even nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Spielberg said he changed a lot of the book's source material because,

"The characters were so unpleasant, you end up rooting for the Shark". :)

Favorite character was Brody.

Dude was no nonsense and ready for action.

Actor apparently didn’t want to do Jaws 2 but glad that he did otherwise it would have been not nearly as good.

Favorite lines.

Brody- “You’re going to need a bigger boat.”

Hooper: “That's a twenty footer.”
Quint:”Twenty-five. Three tons of him.”

Brody has one of the greatest Kill Lines in cinema history,

"Smile you son of a -
"

Sir hand in your movie review relevance card and get yourself some taste!
Your opinion on this particular matter is, too, crap.

You may sound like a reasonable guy on some other matters, but on this one...

JAWS - 100

JAWS 2 - 50

JAWS 3 - 75 - (I rank it this high based on my enjoyment of it)

JAWS The Revenge - 50 - (I actually find the first half of the movie pretty entertaining and enjoyable It's mainly the last act, and especially the ending, that completely ruins the rest of the movie. But it has some enjoyable moments).

JAWS 1 is the only one with a good looking shark. The rest of the sharks look terrible, with The Revenge looking like straight up foam rubber.

JAWS 3 is my favorite of the sequels. It's a fun b-movie. I enjoy the haunted house/monster movie vibe of it. The score is really great too. Despite looking mostly terrible, there are a couple of shots of the shark that are genuinely scary. Which is more than the sharks in 2/4 can say.

JAWS 2 looks and feels like a true continuation of the first one, but that's about all it has going for it. It's dreadfully boring to the point that I can barely stand it.

Was it ever explained in Jaws 4 on how the shark followed the lady from New England all the way down to the Bahamas?

Only those as old as me might know.

Way back when, before the advent of home media, movies got novelizations. The only way you could relive them before they hit network television was to read them, and there were actually some good ones. Often the writers would work from scripts and would include parts that were cut from the movie.

In the novelization of Jaws 4 it's revealed that Mike Brody, the scientist, pissed off a voodoo priest. The priest put a curse on the Brody family that drew in the shark. It's a goofy premise, but it does explain why the shark follows her to waters not normally part of a great whites habitat.

It's a silly explanation, but it is an explanation.

The book is definitely a bit different and not quite as good as the movie, but I still really enjoyed it. I was ok with the changes. It's kind of interesting seeing things switched up a bit. The whole Hooper/Ellen sex thing was honestly pretty exciting. It was written well, in terms of being able to really feel what they were feeling as they were going through the whole thing, from the flirting to the sex. Especially Ellen and the angst she was going through. And it seemed wildly naughty, which probably added to the excitement of reading it. I just wish there was more resolution to it with Brody. He sort of figures it out at the end but he never gets to confront Hooper about it.

I enjoyed Quint a lot too. He felt very similar to his movie counterpart, but not a perfect copy. The differences were fine with me.

4th one is the best followed by 1,3 and the second. Second one is really slow as hell. Very little shark action for like half the movie

I am currently anchored where they filmed the Jaws 3 beach scene with the Banana Boat.

Honestly the entire bay doesnt get deeper than 10 feet or so.
