Can't watch foreign movies, the voice acting is utterly retarded.
Bud, they don't dub these into English these days... lmao. You literally have to move to Japan and go through their entire education system to learn Japanese. Only then will you be able to watch this film as it was actually intended. I went through this bullshit back in the 80's, and good thing, bc I'd be denied entry today.

It wasn't playing in the first week in my city, but opened up this week. I am so happy that I managed to see it in theatres.

Hopefully they make another one soon. The Legendary movies have gotten worse and worse.

I guess I'm in the minority and didn't think it was the "best ever." I think it was good but not this masterpiece that a lot of Youtube videos say.

It had the tinge of lower budget IMO. I think it's being overrated because it goes back to just good storytelling without any of the woke bullshit.

I personally think Japanese acting is a bit overacted but us Westerners can't tell because we don't speak the language. Korean acting is better IMO.

Being non-woke is just the norm for Japanese movies and shows. There have been a ton of popular Japanese shows and movies that came out recently that have not been getting this kind of praise. In fact a Studio Ghibli movie is in theaters now that barely anyone notices.

If not being woke was such a big reason for the praise, you'd probably see every right leaning network, news site, and podcast dedicating segments to it. They all did that for Top Gun Maverick.

I think it's being hyped so much because good storytelling isn't a strong suit for monster movies in general.

Rotten Tomatoes scores are literally meaningless these days.

I gave it a 7. Was expecting it to be better based on all the hype. I enjoyed it but not enough violence and destruction from Godzilla.

I must be living under a rock because this is the first time I’m hearing about this movie

So that was my view tonight for DBOX XD screening of the film. It was awesome. The vibrations and the motions of the seat really add to the enjoyment and experience of the film. Anyone who has DBOX in their area, or 4DX, I would advise you to spend the few extra dollars, it was a good time. The airplane scenes, especially. Some of the scenes were setup nicely, in a way where you really felt you were moving around, almost the feelings that you get playing VR.

I went with my sisters, this time, last week I went with my dad. None of them would give half a thought to Godzilla, if not for me, my entire life, and all three say it is a legitimately good film. My sister cried during that one scene that makes people cry.

I gotta mind to go again tomorrow. Would be my last opportunity to go. May as well.

not gonna watch this hack, but i’m surprised he knows how to read.

Then you’ll be even more surprised to know that he’s also actually an author who’s published like over a dozen spy-thriller novels or so over the last like 10 or 12 years or thereabouts.

Just saw it in 4DX and loved it. The last movie I saw in 4-D was Prometheus.

I’m not really into action movies. I’m more of a limp wristed indie movie lover.

I didn’t even know there was a Godzilla movie out.

I only decide to check it out after reading the thread.

Thnx, Sherbros.

unfortunately, it’s opening weekend record was swiftly broken by The Boy and the Heron (to the surprise of no one, but it was only a differential of about $2M). regardless, it came in at #3 again in the US box office, almost stealing the #2 spot out from under The Hunger Games (beat it on Sunday though!)

Boy and the Heron is anime though which is a different animal. Asking people to sit through a full live action foreign film with subtitles is a bigger ask IMO.

the previous record holder for this year was another anime. not sure how it’s different, though. although, now that i think of it, i wonder if The Boy and the Heron even qualifies for the record, since i’m sure a fair amount of its box office is from dubbed screenings

i could look it up to see if Godzilla still holds the record due to that technicality, but that’d be too easy
