What a fantastic film. Never expected such a good human story. I really like Godzillas new atomic breath amd roar, familiar yet more powerful.

Was stoked I wasn’t able to see it over the weekend because they finally opened up IMAX screenings here during the week.

Saw it last night and I don’t know that I have much trouble saying it was the best Godzilla movie I’ve ever seen. They finally nailed the human story and I was 100% invested in. I wasn’t sitting there asking “when are they going to get to the fireworks factory?” because I loved the entire ride.

G was about as menacing as I’ve seen with the possible exception of Shin. Destruction, terror, he was the whole package.

I’m just happy Toho is banging out incredible Godzilla films again. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

Something like speakers built into the seat, which itself is programmed to move in synch with the action on the screen, so it is like being on an amusement ride. Pretty stoked. Also with some kind of extreme definition screen. Will report back after.

I'm also blown away with the response the film is getting. People posting reviews all over YouTube, many of whom readily admit that this isn't the kind of film they get excited to see, and they're all raving about it. I've heard multiple people say it's the best movie of the year, that they were emotionally affected, that it is one of the best films they've ever seen, that this film deserves mad Oscar nominations, and that Disney <<<<< Toho.

This is all crazy to me. As a life long fan, I'm pretty satisfied.

Godzilla is a Kami, not an animal

Ok so that’s not ever actually said. But his name does come from a made up Kami. The island you first see him on in the original movie has a Shinto shrine to a creature named Gorjira.

In one movie they do actually just embrace the supernatural side of him, GMK. In that one he’s the spirits of people who died at the hands of Imperial Japan in WWII returned to get their revenge. The other monsters are Kami that come out to defend Japan

This isn't legit 4D, I guess, bc they don't do smellz (it's only smellz) and fog and whatnot. They sell this setup by dissing 4D lol, saying the 4D stuff that this doesn't use distracts from the film. I think if they could make you smell ocean water that it would be pretty sick, tbh

I felt connected to these characters. More than the typical empathy.
