On the same topic, I read a piece today whereby in Wuhnan they'd identified a seafood market as perhaps ground zero for the virus, and the market was said to be selling koalas to eat. Which would mean some weirdo in Australia is selling burned, charred koalas to some delicacy-feeding Chinese importer. The same seafood market was selling wolf pups and peacocks, essentially just anything that breathes.

Some animals can be very harmful to humans, maybe koala is one?

How’s it in shanghai? I split before all this went down and have been hanging out in the mountains of Jiangxi with the in-laws. But it’s still pretty crazy out here.

Don't go crazy but if your in a transit city just take hygienic precautions and have some food and water reserved. Face masks are selling out real fast and even Amazon is cleared out of facemasks, those cheap face covers don't really help. No reason to panic but take precautions and always be prepared.

Your argument is the typical "all countries have problems" (tu quoque) instead of actually having any counterpoint.

China is a dumpster fire on so many levels. Horrible treatment of animals, Muslim internment camps, anti-foreigner sentiment, blind nationalism, the belief that rules don't apply to them (imperalism), widespread food contamination and counterfeit branded food products, prisoners enslaved in 100+ hours of work per week, horrible public behaviour (peeing, littering, spitting), terrible driving and no enforcement of the rules of the road, ridiculous medical beliefs such as ingesting endangered animals and shooting up with antibiotics for the flu (antibiotics work on bacteria, not viruses), government working on literal big brother state control, just to name a few.

Don't even try comparing industrialized countries to them. The scale of problems is off the charts.

Half of that stuff you mentioned is also an issue in the US....horrible treatment of animals (dairy, meat industry), attitude towards Muslims/immigrants/foreigners, blind nationalism, rules don’t apply to them, etc. Pot, meet kettle. Anyone who tries to deny this is kidding themselves.

Besides, the comparison wasn’t between China and an “industrialized” country. The comparison was between China and Philippines.
 
I work out at two gyms. One is the Edinburgh University gym, and the other, Elysium, is a private gym specialising in Powerlifting, Strongman etc.

There are hundreds of Chinese students at Edinburgh Uni, and a lot of them use the gym. So I'll be training at Elysium for the foreseeable future.
