Gane/Aspinal Slow-Mo Eye Poke Video Analysis

What do you mean."They TOLD him to wait for Jones" I highly doubt that anyone other was not trying to get title shot...Volkov for example, or Gane. Like imagine if Pereira did same in LHW. Aspinall simply stalled whole HW and now he prolonged it by another 4+ months. Thats reality...

Also its 100% clear that Aspinall was looking for his way out and thats why he "milked" his injury...why would u "milk" it otherwise. He simply wanted excuse to dont get hate from fans.

Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Jones and the UFC stalled HW. Aspinall wanted to fight. The UFC told him they were gonna make the Jones fight happen, and didn't offer Aspinall anyone else. Not complicated.

Him "wanting a way out" is conjecture by you. If your vision is impaired due to your opponent fouling you, that's the opponent's fault.

Everything looks worse in slow motion.

Was it an eyepoke? Yes.

Could he have continued? Probably.

Especially since the doctor cleared him to fight.

People were pissed because he chose to quit.

All it takes to continue is a willingness to continue. It doesn’t mean you aren’t impaired by a foul just because you say you can. It means you’re willing to give your opponent a tremendous advantage in exchange for nothing.

Let’s presume he was partially blinded - he says he can continue then gets knocked the fuck out. Does anyone care that he got eye-poked at that point?

Once you say you are good to continue the eye poke becomes forgotten/meaningless. It’s absurdly stupid to continue competing impaired with what’s at stake. People can be mad, it’s not their eyes/their championship on the line.

Understand ur point...but the problem for me is how Aspinall reacted. He rewatched full clip on screen(without any problem), commented on it after he seen it(without any pain noises or twitching). Then he needs to be supported on the way out of cage by security (like his legs are injured)...Then he tolds doctor in hospital that he cannot see any fingers doctor is showing (there was no single problem with his vision during interview) and more...

His attituted was simply comical and i dont buy it. U simply dont react like that when u are injured. Compare it to Klein which was basically crying on the stool (for good reason.)
Agreed for the most part. I'm fine with the foul and the fight decision, but Tom should have just dropped it and stop commenting and posting about it. Just tell the (probable) truth: The guy double-gouged my eyes, one knuckle deep and the other one scraping down my eye. I couldn't see, so they called the fight. Luckily my eyes don't seem to be injured seriously, so I'll be back for the rematch ASAP hopefully.

Your reality. You're plainly wrong. There was one title fight the UFC wanted to do, and one reason it didn't happen. You're talking like Tom stopped them from doing anything else, and you're calling it a "title shot" when the top title, the real title, was off the board. Again, because of one reason.

Also its 100% clear that Aspinall was looking for his way out and thats why he "milked" his injury...why would u "milk" it otherwise. He simply wanted excuse to dont get hate from fans.
Your realities are all pretty stupid.

It's a strange world where someone can get brutally poked in both eyes on camera, and people will still claim he's a quitter pretending to be hurt. The clickbait/troll culture we live in is an absolute cancer.

Sour and defensive Jon Jones fans.

You have to either have a real serious personal bias against Tom, or just have a really really stupid perspective that makes zero sense...... to say Tom was looking for a way out, in a fight he was arguably winning. Perhaps even both lol. This is just stupidity. This situation has really brought out some real morons on here.

There's absolutely no denying he's hamming it up

Oh shit they're still filming!

The xyz got poked worse and was fine is such a stupid thing to say. But serdogs idiots gonna be like that. I remember watching kharitonov get one of the softest look nut shots vs mitrione, while these same Sherbros laughed at him as a quitter 15 seconds in. A week later Kharitonov was getting reconstruction surgery on his balls.
Facts are fouls are not all equally damaging you're retarded if you can watch 2 eye pokes and say which guy is more damaged. Hell Tom's right eye looks like the worst poke but obviously his left was in more pain even. Tom's still getting additional testing done in England but they're sticking with "what a faker routine". Imagine being so dense that you believe he's conspiring with doctors to continue a narrative when he could just say it was better an hour later and we'd move on, but he's continuing to fake days later for fun.

The only thing that seems so odd to me is the left eye of Aspinall looks like it gets absolutely gouged by the finger, but it was the right eye that he couldn't see.

Because sometimes the scraping is worse than the poke. Every situation is different. Even a doctor can't just look and say "that eye is fine, that one looks damaged" with any level of certainty. Eyes are damn complicated organs, and there an infinite number of degrees and types of damage.

The only thing a doctor can immediately assess is if your eyeball is intact, they can’t examine your retina or cornea with their naked eye.

It’s like there is an imaginary litmus test for fouls where it has to “look bad” to the average viewer to justify stopping the fight. Even though they have no perceptible comparable for how much of an impairment the foul caused, regardless of eye poke, groin shot, etc. It’s not their eye or nuts that got damaged, but they “know” exactly how disabling the foul was based on their imagination.

Well u couldn't be more wrong. Tom absolutely took way out and it was best bussines decision he made.

Its simple like 1+1. - 15 months ringrust, highly grappling oriented sparring partners - De Fries, Buday.... - None of them dynamic and explosive as Gane. Aspinall was simply getting fked and took first way out he could. There is xxx reasons why its more possible than a "brutal eye injury which did not let him continue." BTW he was getting smacked, broken nose....problems with breathing, slower than Gane. Be mad as much u want...

Not true at all. Doctor can see how ur eyeball reacts to light and etc. To see if ur eye working. + U can deduct if retina or cornea is teared by blood in eyeball...there was no blood. I dont have major problem with Aspinall quiting, but how much he milked it to convince people like u. That really bothers me...If he atleast acted good, but it was pretty poor work.. :D

The retina or cornea can be damaged with no visible blood in the eyeball. The truth is the doctor can’t deduce if you can see or not by looking at the eye, that’s the entire reason they ask you if you can see.

As I said initially, maybe he milked it post-fight in damage control-mode, but in that moment there is no reason to realistically believe he was “scared because he was losing” and wanted to lie his way out of the fight without losing.

Can always tell who's never been in a gym let alone an actual fight. "Broken nose". Goobers think every bloody nose must be broken. Every day at our gym guys would be leaking just like Aspinall was from taking a few punches to the nose and almost never were they broken.

Rewatch it. Aspinall had problems with breathing, thats why i mentioned broken nose.

I've rewatched twice. His breathing looked almost identical to the start of the fight. Gane was doing better than expected, even as an Aspinall fan I had Gane slightly ahead. But the silly narratives show how much people see what they want to. "Broken nose! Gane dominating! Aspinall gassed!" No. Ridiculous nonsense in a fight that was 4 minutes old and neither guy hurt or gassed.

Seriously. The bleeding completely stopped without help from the cut man, the nose was perfectly straight, there was no swelling of the nose, Tom was breathing normally; what do these people think a broken nose looks like?
