Francis Ngannou: First PFL Opponent to Receive $2 Million Guarantee

lmao PFL will get Affliction’d.

This is exactly what I was thinking. But who knows, maybe they can pull this off if they have enough money and get the Bellator roster.

But seeing how Bellator hasn't been able to break into PPV, it's not a good sign.

But big ups to Ngannou for securing his financial future and the freedom to do what he wants. I'm jealous

Lol, you're such a negative person. Just cause he couldnt get all the things he wanted to help other fighters doesn't mean the deal he signed doesn't help other fighters cause it clearly does. For fuck sake when has another MMA fighter ever tried to garentee that their opponents get at least 2 million, you act like just cause he didn't get Healthcare for fighters that he didn't help other fighters in the PFL.

I get the feeling you have never negotiated your salary ever, you ask for more stuff than you know you will get and then they counter offer and they keep doing that till both sides meet somewhere in the middle.

2 million in pay for a fight for his opponent sounds like a pretty good trade off for no health benefits!

Gotdammit, the fucking UFC army is out on hot patrol.... either you guys are fucking shills or you are fucking morons who can't be happy that a guy gave the finger to his overbearing boss and made it on his own...

...wait, then that might just expose you as shills. How much does the UFC pay posters, anyway?

Shills?

You do realize that you don't get paid if you don't work, right?

Ask Le'Veon Bell how sitting out waiting to get paid (when he was still in his prime), worked out for his career.

I'd say the biggest moron in this thread is YOU.

For anyone that fights him it is for sure. I get the feeling PFL was the only organization that didn't just counter his non money related demands by just offering more money. I could see them saying "we can't do Healthcare but we can do this or this" giving him options to get something similar to what he's asking for to benifit other fighters instead of just assuming more money will fix the problem.

Ngannou did say he was willing to compromise with the ufc over what he wanted but they refused outright to countenance any change to the status quo. This is understandable from tbeir perspective because the ufc takes far more of the income form fights compared to other combat sports promotion and it will affect their bottom.line but ufc fighters are sctually getting very little for putting themselves on the line every fight and having no income bettwen fights. Under the ngannou pfl deal, the ppv fights give the fighters 50 percent of the income which is probably unprecedented for mma promotions.

As long as it doesn’t bankrupt PFL and they join the mma graveyard alongside strikeforce, pride , elitexc etc, then it should be only a good thing for a sport. I just wish they’d drop the stupid no elbow rule but wasn’t there some whispers about them getting rid of that for this like super fight division thing cause they figure people in a tournament don’t wanna worry about scaring slicing cuts from elbows

LOL at the salty ass losers on here who look for any reason to hate on francis.

He's making money, his opponent will make money and he's charge, won't have to be a walking billboard for the company.

good on him

BTW you salty loser, don't bother quoting and replying not gonna read anything you losers have to say.

Francis Ngannou wasn’t looking out for only himself when he signed with Professional Fighters League.

The former UFC heavyweight champion took to YouTube to go over some of the details of his deal, which was initially announced early Tuesday morning. While Ngannou isn’t expected to fight for PFL until 2024, one of the most interesting aspects of the contract was the money it appears to have secured for his first opponent.

“This is the best business decision that I have ever done,” Ngannou said in the video. “At the beginning of my free agency I didn’t know that I could have a deal structure where I could have all this in one deal. I have myself a good guarantee, which is more important. And most importantly, I was even able to have a guarantee of $2 million for my opponent, [so] whomever I’m going to fight next is going to make money too.”

As previously reported, Ngannou will compete in PFL’s pay-per-view superfight division, which is expected to pay fighters a 50% revenue share from those events. He’ll also be chairman of the forthcoming PFL Africa and serve on an advisory board representing fighter interests.

Like what he did with that.

That would be a miracle since Jons signed a 8 fight deal and has 7 fights left on the contract.

Ahhhh I see.

So Jon will retire after Stipe, but won't be able to go elsewhere because of the ufc contract?

(Also I'm aware my original statement had next to zero chance of happening anyway)

I think about atleast a quarter of the UFC fanbase will start paying attention to PFL now.

So.... are you saying that you are actually "working" for the UFC?

Francis giving his opponent life insurance, nice!

Seriously, this seems like a very nice gesture from Francis. He grew on me, good guy

No wonder this guy has no college degree. PFL will go bankrupt within 3 years.

Omg omg I just watched Ngannou's interview on his convo with Chatri..

Spat my coffee out laughing, chatri is a clown, just like Dana, Ngannou bless..

I hope Ngannou and Jake Paul are going to be able to lift PFL into being a more prominent org, and that they all have success..
