Francis Ngannou: First PFL Opponent to Receive $2 Million Guarantee

Oh so boxing promoters are good now? and when it comes to MMA why is everyone forgetting he just had his knees repaired? Francis is as good as done in MMA

but but but they have a smart cage

and what does that percentage mean if they cant get anyone notable to fight him that people actually care enough to pay for the PPV? Fedor?Reem? bader? Big country? theres no one people care about

Didn’t he win the ufc HW title with those knees before they were repaired?

I think this is a much better deal for his next opponent than it is for the PFL.

On one hand, awwww, it's cute that's what you think information is. On the other, JFC, we need to get you back in school.
Dude, you still haven't provided the solution. You can't tell if anybody makes money except the fighters, if there is promotion at all. But I guess repeating the same bs makes you feel smarter.
<YeahOKJen>

Oh and kid, information is an abstract concept, so you attempts at making your own definitions just show how dumb you are.

There are levels to moronity, I see...

If jones wouldn't set foot in the same arena with Ngannou for 8 million, crying about a potential broken jaw, what makes you think he would do it for 1 million on enemy turf?
He watched the Gane fight and fought Gane himself.

Hats off. Glass raised. I was very quick to write off his decision to go this way, and gleefully jumped on every day his signing wasn't announced. I still think it's gonna be difficult to get a good boxing match lined up. Most, if not all of the really bankable HWs look to be locked in a love triangle that won't be broken by someone transitioning .... But if this is how his deal is structured, what can I say?

Is PFL Africa gonna be a thing? I don't know.
They will be the 1st major organisation to break ground there as far as know. Will it take off? I don't know.
Will he actually effect how fighters are treated and paid? I don't know.
Will his opponents get 2milly?
I don't know. Does PFL have the money for this? Again... I don't know

But unless he is barefaced lying, what's not to like?

Edit. I said this on another thread. The only fighter I remember getting a deal like this with all sorts of "non-fight based conditions", was Rampage to Bellator. And it went sour REALLY fast.

I would hope this is not the case here

Fedor coming out of his 2nd retirement?
A juiced reem rematch?
Bader if PFL buys bellator?
An unknown Eastern European wrestler who could lay on him?

What would be a big fight in mma? Is this the ppv model? Who vs francis is worth a ppv fight?
Who is worth the 2 million?

They better hope there is some free agents leaving soon because the landscape is scarce. Francis was smart to leave he was one oblique kick away from jones from being done

Werdum out there looking juicy. Maybe him. Otherwise maybe a Glory dude. Verhoven in MMA would be interesting

lmao PFL will get Affliction’d.

While you might be right. They have FARRR deeper pockets. They won't be able to lose money forever. But they've got some smart cookies near the top that have a fair amount of sporting/broadcast/finance experience.

Affliction had a bunch of T-shirt salesmen and Tom Atencio who was more interested in proving he could actually fight than remaining solvent as a business.

So.... are you saying that you are actually "working" for the UFC?

No one is.

My point was how much money will Francis have made in the time-span between his last fight with Gane and his next fight with whomever it may be?

So even IF he gets paid more money, he will be 2+ years older and during those 2 years he didn't make squat when he could have been pulling in millions.

You ever hear the expression, "Strike while the iron is hot"?

It’s probably going to be some sort of “potential guarantee”, like, “fighter will be guaranteed a 10 fight PFL contract at 200k per fight, but only if they fight 3 times a year, do not miss weight, reschedule a fight, or do not lose more than two consecutive fights, and PFL has the option to terminate the contract if any of those aren’t met.

So whoever they pick to sacrifice to Ngannou will get KO’d bad, put on long medical suspension by the athletic commission, won’t be able to fulfill their contractual obligations, and PFL will void the contract.

Gotdammit, the fucking UFC army is out on hot patrol.... either you guys are fucking shills or you are fucking morons who can't be happy that a guy gave the finger to his overbearing boss and made it on his own...

...wait, then that might just expose you as shills. How much does the UFC pay posters, anyway?
Maybe some of us are your overbearing boss.... stupid ass lmao.

The stories in your head... he made it on his own and screwed his boss! What? He went from working at target to Walmart....

What's 50% of PFL's earnings tho? Does It come near UFC's 18% or w/e they're paying? Serious question.
I mean, i rather have 1% of Elon Musk's income than 200% of mine.

There is probably no one worth that money that isn't locked up by the UFC(outside of a freakshot Tyson Fury match which will not happen and Lesnar ain't fighting him for 2 million especially with WME/WWE merger). The Affliction strategy is the worst possible one in MMA. The highest selling MMA ppv of all time outside of UFC based promotion I think is Affliction Banned and that was what? 100k buys or so with an absolutely stacked card and that was during the MMA PPV boom of the late 00's when everyone didn't have access to high quality pirated streams. Bellator couldn't get past 100k...etc.

They paid Arlovski $1.5 million in Jan 2009 and that is equal to $2.15 million today and Arlovski was pretty well known ex-UFC champ at the time who was top 5. Putting him against Fedor on PPV was a bust though great for fans.

Not many specifics on this entire deal. Ariel asked Ngannou specifically what his guarantee pay is and he wouldn't answer "I give myself a pretty good guarantee" - way too much to this deal that isn't disclosed to make sense of it.

Ngannou's main focus right now is trying to get a boxing payday fight.

Probably also ensures Ngannou fights once a year at most. We'll see how it plays out. I don't know a single opponent in my head that would be a great match up. PFL gives away 1M to tourney winners I never know so maybe they do have the cash to piss away.

Quite revealing how Sherdoggers are so certain that Francis couldn't possibly care about others as he says he does; there is loads of projection in this thread.

Remember, others COULD still care about others even though YOU don't; it is easily conceivable.
This. But you're speaking to hard-hearted ppl with no imagination beyond projections of doom that make them feel like they're doing better than somebody else who is actually doing way better than them.
