Films you thought were overrated

Beautifully shot with an all star cast but the movie was darn to slow. @BisexualMMA

Yeah, cast was great but it's something like an hour before anything happens. Just sixty minutes of pretentious philosophizing and Miranda Otto walking on the beach.

The only characters in that collage I can really describe as people from having seen the film are Elias Koteas and Nick Nolte. They were the only ones really given a conflict to flesh out and define their characters.

Penn and Caviezel were supposed to be the main story but what was their beef really about?

Nobody else had anything to really do but walk around in the weeds for two hours.

John Cusack: "Hey, I'll go up the hill" guy
John Travolta: "Hey, I think you can take that island" guy
Woody Harrelson: "Fuck, I just exploded my bum" guy
Larry Romano: "Jack in the Box is delicious" guy

Cinematography was good, but I thought it was a clear step below Saving Private Ryan or Platoon.

Not sure if was overrated because a lot of people hated but Prometheus was the biggest let down in cinematic history....still pissed about how dumb that movie was.
Especially considering it was on the cusp of being great. The opening scene made me "fuck yeah!" and then the slow revelation this was going to suck boo!

Citizen Kane - I tried watching it 2 times and I could not get past the 5 minute mark.

Adrien Brody was completely cut out of the movie. @BisexualMMA

i'm gonna get slaughtered for this, but, no country for old men was boring as shit. can't stand mad max fury road, and the shining ,i've tried to watch it a few times, and i last about 30 minutes and turn it off. bone tomahawk was utter garbage.

All the young adult drama/mythology movies.

Harry plopper, twilight, any others.

The Shining

It’s too long, boring as hell in a lot of places, and...Shelley Duvall is hideous although I do feel bad for how she was basically tortured by Stanley Kubrick. The book was better...come at me bros.

Nailed it....biggest dick tease opening scene ever. It was like they did that scene and then completely gassed out of creativity

For everyone saying Mad Max: Fury Road:

-Were you actually a fan of the original three films?

-What exactly were you expecting?

-How could it have been made better?

TBH I hate most movies but these ones stand out as particularly overrated to me:

Signs - Aliens get killed by water. Come to planet that is 80% water. Never rains anywhere on the Earth while they are invading? Probably just breathing would cause them tremendous pain.
Inception - You can imagine anything in the world, so you imagine guns.
Paranormal Activity - You watch people sleep for an hour and a half. Nothing interesting happens until the last 15 seconds

I could name a lot but just last night I watched Mandy with Nicolas Cage. The first hour just dragged with those cult like people. I enjoyed the action but it wasn't anything special like folks were claiming here on sherdog.

Honestly...Braveheart. Its almost blasphemous for me to say since I'm Celtic and love historical/war movies but I found it to be quite slow and boring. The end was heartbreaking none the less. Mel Gibson redeemed himself with Apocalypto and The Passion of the Christ.

Inglorious bastards.
Die hard part ...
Shape of water.
Departed.
Mad max fury road.

I should stop now.

The departed is a remake of a much better movie called Infernal Affairs

Hurt Locker. Most overrated war movie by a long mile. Can’t stand that shit show of a film.

It's overrated. Wanna know why? NOBODY FUCKING AGES. the movie is a fucking fairy tale and does not show you what real prison life is like. It's incredibly overrated, and I love movies. Firstly, they would have checked behind that poster. Hmm, guess that's all I needed to say. Not to mention the fairy tale bullshit ending. Come at me sirs

The escape was terrifying in the novella. If I think about it too long I can't sleep.

Only saw it once, but loved it.

What did you hate?

How unrealistic it was?
