Films You Liked Much More on the Rewatch (and those that you found less appealing on subsequent views)

The Prestige is like Goodfellas to me in that they are two films that are never dull on the rewatch. Seems like there’s always some new angle or element to appreciate.

As much as I love a great deal of Nolan’s work, The Prestige, to date, is my favorite of his films.
Mine too.

Liked less after rewatch:
LOTR Fellowship--I loved it on 1st watch. It has bored me since.
Scarface--Just doesn't hold up with the overacting.
Black Panther--I know he is beloved and this is blasphemous, but as a hero he is dull.
80's Horror-Still love it but man the SFX are ass lol.

Like More:
Napolean Dynamite--This movie needed to sink in. I was shocked on 1st watch lol.
Signs--I went in hearing all the nonsense and watched it though those eyes. On rewatch it was really well done.
Justice League--I didn't hate it when I watched it. After watching it again, it was better.

I still enjoy Scarface, but Tony Montana is annoying as fuck. Classic napoleon’s syndrome

Minus the sexual assault scene I think this movie still holds up and Part 3 still holds up so well to me especially the Winston Wolf scene.

Movie I Liked More Upon Rewatch

Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2
Die Hard

Both movies are fantastic and aside from a few scenes here or there these movies still hold up very well.

Movies I Disliked More Upon Rewatch

Enter The Dragon
Chinese Connection

I like Bruce like any other martial artist who has respect for what he did but his movies just don't hold up especially if you have looked at the fast paced Hong Kong action films of the 80's. I know people might disagree but I think the GOAT decade for martial arts films was the 80's.
Pulp Fiction is a solid movie. When I first saw it, I thought it was spectacular. Now, to me, it's just a solid movie that I'm not too keen on rewatching 100 more times.

I saw this in the movie theaters with my kids and did not like it very much. Yes I know its a kids film but the first one that popped in my mind.
I watched it a second time and enjoyed the movie much more.
It has some pretty funny segments.

A lot of Nolan's big movies are excellent theatre experiences but I do not really enjoy rewatching again. Interstellar, Inception come to mind. Interstellar is maybe my best theatre experience, it's not captivating at all watching at home and really drags on.

I saw The Dark Knight like 8 times that summer, I loved it. If Batman '89 and The Dark Knight are both on tv, I watch Batman '89

It’s funny you say that.

I will still cite The Dark Knight as the best Batman movie ever.

But every time I watch Batman Returns (which, being honest is fairly frequently), I’m quite certain that I would prefer to watch it to the Dark Knight at this point. Hell, it’s the second best Batman film for me. I love ‘89 as well. And that if you told me I couldn’t watch the Burton films ever again, I’d be more bummed out than if you told me that I couldn’t watch the Nolan trilogy (and I really admire the Nolan trilogy- even TDKR).

Something about the rewatchability of the Burton films is undeniable to me.

I just watched Independence Day for the first time last week. It's okay, but feels a little long by the time they finally figure out how they can actually fight the aliens. Then you still gotta watch them carry out the plan and wrsp up the ending. I felt it drag, but maybe that's just me.
When reported watch it just start at the invasion pick back up when Goldblum and the cuck go into apace or at least at "the speech".

Never considered Pacino a truly great actor apart from Godfather and Dog Day.
85% of his movies he over acts to the point of cringe. Even first watch he had me cringing all his scenes on Heat and Scarface.

The Nice Guys was hilarious to me back when I was young on the first watch. Became one of my favourite movies.

I tried watching it again recently and wtf was I thinking. I love Ryan too but it was horrible.

I think he’s obviously capable of excellence. Most of his films in the 70s are indicative of that. After he was offscreen for a while in the 80s, he returned with another very good performance in the effective thriller Sea of Love.

Post-Sea of Love is where we get a lot more of raspy-voiced, yelling at the top of his lungs, over-the-top Pacino but there are still some fun performances from that version.

Plus, I think he’s great in Donnie Brasco which is during that more over the top era but is actually a quite subtle, nuanced performance. Same goes for the Insider, one of his best post-Heat films and an excellent performance.

I always felt that Pacino peaked as an actor in the 90's.

Dick Tracy, Glengarry Glen Ross, Carlito's Way, Heat, Donnie Brasco. Brilliant performances.

His 1970's films may have been better overall. But, arguably, that is just comparing 70's productions values vs 1990's.
