Trump owned the New Jersey Generals of the USFL. When the USFL was folding Trump attempted a merger. It was very hostile. Trump later filed an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL and won. He was awarded $1.00.

Trump is directly responsible for why it failed. It wasn’t originally supposed to be a competitor to the NFL as it had a spring summer schedule. After buying the generals Trump was a driving force to a fall schedule in attempt to ultimately force a merger with the NFL. There is a good 30 for 30 on it.
