Fedor's GnP was insane

<WhatIsThis>
You usually have pretty reasonable takes, but that’s insane. He looked like dogshit after returning from his PED failure, so that would mean his prime was what—3 years long maybe? He managed to beat not only Fedor, but Overeem, Gonzaga, Bigfoot, Nelson, Nogueira (albeit post-prime Nogueira), and Aleks all before he hit his prime? Damn.

I think that was the time when his striking peaked before he physically started to fall off. His BJJ was always there obviously.

Werdums prime was 2010-2014 imo
I think if we’re talking athletic prime, it was probably close to 10 years like most fighters. 2005-2015 or so. If we’re talking about when he was at his absolute peak, I agree. 2010-2014/15 or so.

Honestly the HW division has always been complete shit. Its the only division that has gotten worse though (maybe LHW too)
I think lhw is underrated currently from a historical standpoint. I get that the ufc lhw champ is old but I think you’ll look back and see there was talent in the division. Guys like jiri, rakic, ankalaev, reyes, nemkov, anderson, Jan, glover, match up pretty well with any era imo. Obviously jones and DC stood out in their era but the current crop is pretty deep and good.

Werdum was a 7 year veteran and wasn't green and Fedor was 5 years past his prime and had 30 fights in 10 years by the time he lost to Werdum. Keep shilling.

The dude actually said that Werdum was green when he fought Fedor.

He is either a complete idiot or a massive hater .I think any reply to his posts is a massive waste of time .

A green Werdum subbed prime Fedor. And no you don't grt to decide when a fighters prime ends based on when it suits their record.
And btw Werdum isn't even a top 3 UFC heavyweight goat.

noob.

fedors trainer said fedor has lost a step before the arlovsky fight and that he was only wining because of experience and that a loss was on the horizon.

this is known.

For sure. His atheltic youth in 2005 provided great intensity and endurance. His skills weren't as well rounded then but he could fight his ass off without getting tired.

By 2010 he wasn't as atheltic but his skills and experience made up for that.

Lol what

Glover is 64 years old and took the belt from a 39 year old Jan who is a border line journeyman.

Not to mention MW Anthony Smith with 18 losses hanging around the top 5 at LHW.

LHW is weaker than it's ever been. Hopefully Jiri can bring some life to the division. Ankalev still a ? and Nemkov is very good but but not in the UFC unfortunately.

Actually Werdum lost to the guy Fedor is beating here in PRIDE.

Werdum beat Nog and Fedor only once they were past their prime.

GOAT GNP

Never seen a fighter try to escape through the ropes like this and Herring was actually the favorite going into this fight

Listen to the SOUND of this. UFC shills want to pretend like the speed and intesity of this GnP wouldn't translate to today's sport but anyone who has trained and fought before understands that this kind of speed, aggression, intensity and control transcends eras. Fedor was truly the stuff of GOATs. If the universe had different timing and Fedor went on his run in the UFC during the Instagram era he would have went down and been celebrated as the greatest legacy fighter ever. Unfortunately Fedor made this run pre social media in Japan a place where the sport died. Being smeared by the UFC marketing machine didn't help. But watching the skill and ferocity you know it's stuff of GOATs. Anyone who tells you Fedor wasn't special is a shill ass pussy on god.

Athletic prime and prime as a fighter are different things for me. Werdum's prime as an athlete was when he was more focused on BJJ. 39 year old Werdum would beat the piss out of 28 year old Werdum imo.

The skill level was low? Based on what? Everyone in the top 10 from the mid 2000s was well rounded and athletic af and a base they were a master at.
I guess you just have lower standards than me. Or maybe you just don't know what you are watching lol.

Same with DC. He was more athletic in SF, but he was the best as a fighter when he went to LHW

Werdum was in incredible shape for the Cain fight. By far the best shape he had ever been in while fighting in the UFC. I would agree that he would have a great chance of beating a younger Werdum BUT young Werdum was a different animal. He was a lot Wilder and could fight harder for longer IMO. His endurance and intensity were higher. I also think he wrestled better then and scrambled faster making for more exhausting fights. But yea the Werdum who beat Cain had put in a lot of work with Cordeiro and had an older, wiser BJJ game which wasn't as athletic but still deadly. That version of Werdum was so good that it only lasted for one fight. Shows how hard it is maintaining such peak performance.

I am 99% sure you are a UFC shill trying to make Fedor fans look stupid and crazy

I think young Werdum gets picked apart on the feet by old Werdum tbh. Old Werdum was beating up Hunto striking.

They weren’t better at getting the fight to the ground. And it’s debatable who was a better striker.
And if Blaydes roided like those two (especially Barnett), I'm sure he'd be even better. Never forget, Pride = zero drug testing. Look at Bobb Sapp...365 pounds with abs. Yeah, that's natural.
