Ever heard of a fighter getting slept twice in a row an than get a title shot?

1 of them is out of the weight class and it's the privilege that comes with basically being the GOAT of the weight class.

If you want consistency and fairness try elsewhere, it's not like Dana has a track record for it or anything.

BTW I have no problem with this, this is a winnable fight for volk.

To be fair, he did UFC a huge favor by stepping in to fight Islam on short notice. So assuming they did not count that lost, they see it as giving him an immediately title shot after losing his title to Topuria.

With that said, I feel like Movsar should have gotten the shot against Lopez. I personally am not a fan of instant rematches

<PlusJuan> this. I was there and Dana White and Hunter Cambell and Volk all agreed that it didnt count if Volk got KOed or lost or whatever because it was a freebie fight and only counted for Volk if he won but otherwise it would be like it never happened.

They shook hands and everything.

Ima go write some letters to congressmen and sherdog and Wikipedia because really it shouldn't even be showing up on these sites or public records.

Dana pinkie sweared that they would deleted the video too!!

ps: no backsies

This was more for Topuria than it was for Volk.

But now they just swappin Volk's opponentt trying to do the same for Lopes.

Appears they want an Aussie champion, badly. Presume they have plans of going back at some point relatively soon

They have a deal with the Perth government, I think it's two events there a year for the next few years. So yeah if they could have JDM and Volk as champ they've got two headliners for events they can charge shitloads for, so i agree with you.

If this was WWE I reckon they'd have put the belt on Tuivasa, of course this is real so he's dropped 5 in a row ha ha

Without an Aussie champ, you have no events for Australia, as no fighter in their right mind wants to earn there, pay a 40% local tax, then go back to their homecountry and pay another 30-40%.

Right now, DDP is Mr. Aussie card.

No, he doesn't. He got KOd by the current (yeah, i know he vacated) champ so he needs to win some. Why t.f. does he deserve anything? That said I like Volk but I REALLY like Lopes
Honestly, I see it as "here's your shot for taking the Islam fight on short notice, now we're square and if you keep losing it's time to headline Saudi fight Nights like Izzy."

<mma3>

Immediately after getting slept by Conor, Aldo fought for and won the the interim (later upgraded to undisputed) FW championship that he had lost in his previous fight, then got stopped by Max only to get stopped by Max for the title in his very next fight.

Then later on after dropping down to BW for the first time (in the UFC?), they they gave him a title shot against Yan as a reward for being 0-1 in the division.

So not what you asked; but…

"Getting slept" is a disrespectful way to describe what happened.

So is completely ignoring his legacy. He is more than just "a fighter".

I actually think it's pretty disrespectful to make him fight for the title.

Even if that's what Volk wants, the UFC are only doing it with one eye on propelling Lopes forward and building his name. They might as well smirk at him with their fingers crossed behind their back.

I don't find matchmaking like this as "respectful" as others seem to.

Let's call it as it is: Volk has a chance, but ultimately he's being sent out to lose.

They are gifting Volk because the division is weak and he helped them on super short notice. They usually do that.

Volks done
On the downside of 35 with back to back ko losses

That's how fast this game passes you by and it's over

its ruthless as fuck
Most great fighters get a career resurgence. Volk might hit his stride once again, you'll never know. Rooting for Ilia though.

You actually believe the UFC wants a Mexican whose head looks like a penis with a Hitler mullet to be their next champ?
