Television ECHO (Official Trailer, post #52; Premieres Jan. 10)

Its true, just like Daredevil & Bullseye, her comics-abilities are simple and effective for street-level threats.

In the same way having Daredevil fight Thantos or Batman fighting Darksied.... they're far too underpowered for intergalactic threats.

Imagine being to just see the techniques of the Top 10 greatest MMA fighters, The Top 10 Boxers & Kickboxers, and Bruce Lee... and being able to immediately copy every movement perfectly in an actual fight.

That's why she's was a great 'street-level' character.

Now that's not her power in the show... its noteably less interesting being related to magical powers inherited from her native heritage.

Edit - I was going to add that she's not powerful enough to be in the Avengers, obviously, but in the comics she was a member of the 'New Avengers.' Long story short, the regular Avengers 'DeConstructed' for a while and Cap & Tony formed a new group with Spider-Man, Wolverine, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, and a few others... including 'Ronin' a mysterious double-katana wielding ninja that was later revealed to be Echo.

Yeah but don't they already have Taskmaster with the exact same, or very similar powers? I'll check it out but I've had a hard time finishing Marvel shows like Daredevil and Punisher even though I liked them.

Are y'all cranking up The Halluci Nation after watching this?

Yeah... its not uncommon for villains & heroes to have the same powers.

Ya know Luke Cage? Impenetrable skin?
X-23, Wolverine's clone named 'Laura,' first nemesis was 'Kimura' who also had impenetrable skin... so her adamantium blades were useless against her.

Oh yeah, ok I didn't realize she's a hero. For some reason I thought she's a villain. Probably because the trailer has her with Kingpin.

They fucked up Taskmaster so badly in Black Widow, everyone's trying to forget about her. A waste of a very cool character.

Oh please.

She's *Female, *Native, and *Handicap in the Disney woke era, and they changed her powers to reference her native ancestry.

Of course she's a 'hero.'
That complaint would work better if she hadn't been turned into a hero in the comics well before Disney decided to make a series about her.

Overall the show was pretty skippable. Only 5 episodes, half of them less than 45 minutes. Everything felt rushed. I know somebody that filmed parts of it and they basically cut all those out.

The fact Disney made a series about her, being a *female, *native, & *handicap, are all fairly obvious clues.

As well as Disney doesn't make MCU series or movies about villains.

And its worth noting they made her far more handicap in the series than she was in the comics. In the series she uses sign language & uses a prosthetic leg. In the comics she can read lips, speaks normally, and isn't missing any limbs.

My final rating: 6/10.

Way too much Dances With Wolves shit and focus on Maya's family. And the final fight scene was retarded. The main actress has basically one default facial expression: Resting Bitch Face. She doesn't seem to show much emotion

On the plus side, D'Onofrio steals every scene without getting out of first gear. And at least they didn't show him getting his ass beat by a girl whom he outweighs by 200 pounds.

Did the legwork for you guys - Echo's first appearance & entire first arc - free online.

Daredevil - 'Parts of a Whole.'

1998 run, Issues 9-15.

The entire arc is penciled by Joe Quesada, who I'd say is in my Top 15 best pencilers of all time.

Wholeheartedly recommended.

Watched the 1st episode and I can't say that I liked it, pacing is off, those flashbacks seemed so rushed and lead actress doesn't have any charisma. Should I watch Hawkeye first just to get better grasp of Echo?

Yes. I think Echo in Hawkeye was significantly less pudgy and suitable for Daredevil to pursue for sexual relations.

Finished watching all five episodes and overall story kinda bleh. Daredevil and Julia Jones were underutilized. Definitely better than lame swing and a miss She-Hulk.

Probably for limited time, with code ECHO24 on Marvel Redeem, you can get 4 free DD/Echo/Kingpin related comics. You might need to make a Marvel Insider account and then read via Marvel Unlimited in Library under Purchased.
