Dricus Du Plessis simply had no answers for Khamzat Chimaev’s wrestling.

The South African’s middleweight championship reign ended in lopsided fashion at UFC 319, as Du Plessis was grounded repeatedly in a unanimous decision defeat at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday night. Du Plessis did his best to explain Chimaev’s dominance in a post-fight interview.

“The man has incredible control on the top. He was just like a blanket,” Du Plessis said. It wasn’t a matter of strength, it wasn’t that physical, it was just almost as if he knew what your next move was going to be. He got it without using too much power and I had to decide am I going to be on my back or have him on my back? At the end, I went for it, had the back, I could almost taste that victory.”

Khamzat went for choke and americana as well winch is you know going for the finish
Make another myth now for us to bust son

Official Fight stats show he had 0 submission attempts

Dricus won this fight under PRIDE rules

Actually made the attempt to finish the fight in the 5th with the RNC while Khmazat just hugged the whole fight

Under the pussified UFC rules, Khamzat wins

Even the pro Hamas crowd was booing all that hugging and cheered when Dricus locked in the RNC

Khamzat fans who are defending this hugfest better keep up that same energy when other huggers like Gamrot or Mosvar do this

Looking forward to seeing the belt getting defended once every 2 years in a hugfest

I personally would like to see Khamzat take some chances to posture up or advance to a different position to try and get the finish. When you've been so dominant for 3.5 minutes of a round, I'd like to see him take chances. But that is the only critique, anything else you can say has to be positive. Very dominant performance and he should get credit for becoming a champ.

As for DDP, he's on your back, you're trying to stand up, maybe fight the hands on the way up? Maybe once or twice at least to see if the traditional way of standing up works...

He went for the choke
That’s more than Khamzat ever did the whole fight
If you don't count the RNC attempts that Khamzat had that were as close or closer, sure... lol DDP did nothing more than Khamzat this fight.

are you blind or dumb ? He tried to finish

Get DDP's hog out of your mouth. He tried then gave up when he realised that it was useless. Then he was just staying there for the last 10 seconds.
