Dricus’s style is horrible

The most impressive thing about Dricus is his cardio especially given his body type. He just pours on the attack and doesn't relent for 5 rounds.

This really shows how uneducated people are when it comes to fighting.

Like it has to look a certain way or else it ainrt good, even everyone seen him win and defend the belt
Apparently most boxing "experts" and fans clowned on Ali's style when he came up. Because it was never seen before and it looked kinda odd. Hands down and non stop movement.

They shut the fuck up when he beat Listons ass.

If it works then it works. Good luck trying to figure DDP out while he's in his prime.

I'm enjoying his run. He makes me feel like I could down a 6 pack of Keystone Ice and then go out there and win a UFC World Title.

I long thought he was trash but here we are with him on this run and champion.

Dricus fought a more textbook technical fight last night than ever before - ironically though, it was a wild overhand swing that broke Strickland's nose

It was an overhand swing, but it wasn't wild IMO. It was timed and a counterstrike off a slipped jab. If Dricus didn't time it well, it would have never landed.

Agreed, but it's the result that counts. If I can become a millionaire by selling garbage, I would do it, as long as I can reach my goal

He’s a “tiger” in asian martial philosophy

A brute if you will

He knows a move or two, and he will unleash those upon you with the utmost determination of those moves landing and working

Its like “Here is my fist, and Im coming for you with it”

It's effective though.

Looked a bit more orthodox in this last fight but still a bit herky jerky.

It's just kickboxing from his region. Some schools fight like that. They don't set their feet when they throw strikes and they blitz. DDP looks odd because he is big as hell while doing that.

I said the same thing in another thread. He has a hard body like yoel or woodley but Doesn't throw Sub 20 strikes a round like then

Cue 50 sherdoggers telling you you just don’t know what you’re seeing…

Dricus is carried by his athleticism. He’s a good fighter of course, his kicks impressed me, but he fights risk averse, no combinations, taking pot shots over the course of the fight.

Often I think actually "unconventional" strikers tend to do well against more defensive opponents because they let them fight on their own terms, that has IMHO been the way a lot of DDP's recent career has gone.

Its when their pressured a bit more, not allowed to fight how they want to that the defensive gaps become more obvious.

It reminds me a lot of the dean of mean Keith Jardine. How can he be champ??
Unlike Jardine, he's got a chin and plenty of heart to go with that weirdass style.

And, you know, middleweight's in a weird spot right now, with major stars clearly out of prime.

For as bad as people talk about DDP's skills, he's well rounded and aggressive. He forces his moves because it's unconventional it mostly gets through. If he fought like the average fighter with his skills he'd be lower top 15.

Going to be interesting against Khamzat who basically is the guy that forces you into his game.
