i characterize myself as an independent (or NY republican) and i'm all for taxing the ultra-wealthy and have empathy for innocent pals but also want long term peace for the region, not just more of a continuation of the cycle with innocent pals as pawns while their "supporters" use them as expendable bait with a goal of ridding the region of the jews (and israel). but that's not for this thread.

We've been fucked in Canada for quite some time lol. However, with Mexico and Canada coming to terms, for now, any trade war is off the table. I like that it's a trial basis and not some blanket agreement, which could help make it workable for everyone.

I've already made comments on your two posts that do exactly that.

These tariffs are ridiculous, the epitome of hubris and ignorance imo. And it's Trumps narcissism that's driving things. But the Dems are so fucking disconnected, they can't communicate why this is such a big deal on a broad scale--in layman's terms. They're stuck between this pandering to the every man schtick ("they're gonna jack up the price of your beer!") and sounding like pompous elites talking down on people.

Like...this really shouldn't be tough to sell to the American people as to why it's a massive overreach and bad for the economy. Trump's ego has given them a softball, and they're still (so far anyway) whiffing.

Except I'm smart enough to have limited my exposure to the markets as time has gone by so my 401k will be fine regardless. So yes, I'll keep seeing reality in that both parties are tragically flawed. 2019 was still Trump. I’m not defending the tariffs, but I fail to see how this is some big blunder where Trump fell on his face. As of right now, there are no tariffs. I don’t like the threats but it’s clear it’s all bluster to get things he wants.
