Does Nick Quitting Tarnish The Diaz Bros Image ?

In the toughness department the Diaz brothers were always slightly behind people like Edgar, Big Nog, Diego, Bisping, Gaethje, Lytle and Wanderlei

They belong in the category of super tough but still capable of being mentaly broken in a fight like GSP, Rory, Leben, Rampage and Griffin

They're mentally tougher than guys like Conor, BJ, Overeem that sometimes crumble horribly when facing adversity

And far tougher than guys like Woodley, Chael, Rumble and Vitor that always crumble when facing adversity

Nah he was up there with the first group. Watch his classic war with Paul Daley. He took a hell of an ass whooping at the start of the fight, survived and came back to get a TKO win.

Normally no- quitting when you know you are finished is smart; avoid further damage and CTE when you know it is for nothing.

But when you talk the "no quit" tough guy talk like Nick, then yeah- you do hurt that image when you can't walk the walk.

The fight should never have been made in the first place. Nick needs some serious professional help for his mental states.

That post-fight speech where he wanted to start making every excuse in the book......yeeesh.

It was a very unfortunate way for a legendary fighter to go out. Was very sad to see it end the way it did.

Hope Nick gets help and can find peace in his remaining years.

He grabbed his knee at the end to try and style it out like it was because of a leg injury but then he let that go like fuck it i can't even be arsed to fake a leg injury, shit was funny.

One thing is that it’s going to fuck with him

especially with respect to these kidsat the gym he’s all about now

plus this topic is the kind that will age

we’ll see

Comparing this to a 'No mas' is nonsense too......Duran was in his fucking prime when that happened. Nick Diaz looked like a random plucked from the crowd to fill in for a no show.

Seriously concerned about Nick....a paranoid, depressed individual like this who realizes he just verbally quit when his entire schtick has been never quit.....could be really bad news. Hopefully his family and friends are smart enough to lose the tough guy act and help him where he needs it.

The topic is dicey

one only has to look at Roberto Duran

was he one of the greatest to ever do it? Absolutely

but we’ll always remember ‘no mas’

He shouldn't have come back. Today's MMA fans are children who've never competed in anything other than video games.
He put up a decent fight considering his age, ring rust and apparent physical condition.
This is no different than late era Gatti. He was an absolute warrior too.

People on this forum need to grow up lol.

He got seriously hurt in there and didnt want to take anymre damage. The guy is almost 40. Talking about image and reputation is ridiculous and immature. The guy could have had his life altered for the worse if he continued.

You people need to realize that theyre putting their health on the line for entertainment and $. No money is worth continuing that fight for Nick Diaz and your entertainment means zero at that point.

Half of the people on this forum have literally never thrown a punch and youre talking about their image lol.

Absurd.
It’s much higher than half. I’d say 90% or more have never even seen the inside of a gym, let alone throw a punch.

Isn't he 57? Cut the guy some slack.

100%, he went out like a bitch. Embarrassing. Bring away for years doesn’t change anything. Once you sign the contract you have to be prepared for war and he wasn’t. It was a money grab.. coward!

No he's 38 and had been partying in Vegas for 5 years.
even got married there, if u remember the legendary topic

If Bisping did that to GSP the hate threads and yellow cards would flow like wine. He decided to get back in it. He looked bad. Good for Lawyer though a true MMA gem.

If you are evaluating an entire career of a guy on the basis of his (likely) last fight with zero in the tank, you are being dumb.

If you are evaluating a different human being on the basis of another person's last fight, you are being retarded.

I judge mike tyson from the McBride fight…

Everything he said leading up to the fight mitigated a lot of the damage to his reputation his quitting might have otherwise done. I saw it more as a "fuck you" to those he feels forced him to fight, because he sure as hell didn't want to.

Not for me. I judge him by his entire career. Not a fight at 38 years of age after a 6 year layoff against a murderer like Robbie Lawler. Nick is still one of the toughest to ever do it, though now he’s obviously a changed man.
