GSP vacated the belt immediately and didn't hold up the division. Whereas Jon Jones held onto his belt and procrastinated for 8 months, and ultimately turned some of his own fans against him.

It's not the same because Jones was criticized for the amount of time he refused to vacate the belt for, not for his decision to vacate the belt. Had Jon vacated the belt immediately at the end of 2024, very few people would have given him shit for it. It would have been understandable.

He would still get significantly more shit than GSP because people just don’t like Jones for a variety of reasons. He just made it even easier for his detractors by sitting on the belt.

In the grand scheme, it’s the same thing. Move up, get an immediate title shot against a weak champ, immediately vacate to avoid the young hungry dangerous contenders.

Who else is getting the shot? Volkov? He should have gotten the decision over Gane, but the Almeida performance was very underwhelming. Aspinall already beat him pretty easily too, and it's not like his TDD is much better now. WCA has been on a nice run, but he lost to Pavlovich last year, who himself doesn't deserve a shot right now. Who is the next most deserving challengers? Kuniev? Lol...

Fuck no!! UFC is making bad decisions lately but I don't think they are that stupid. Gane will never fight in the UFC again unless Tom somehow demands a rematch. Tom might never fight in the UFC again, his own actions and the attitude from the UFC toward the incident has been horrific and awkward from both. I am sure EVERYBODY just wants the whole thing to go away, I know that is what I want. Lol. I am sorry the question makes me laugh as Gane and UFC need to lawyer up if this guy is actually blind. I honestly don't know. If Tom can fight then yes they should absolutely rematch IMO.

But if they're doing and interim or even worse, stripping Tom of his title, then should he fight for the interim ? I'm less sure about this one.

If Arman is being punished for ruining a PPV headliner last minute then why shouldn't Gane get the same treatment? Tom gets heat for not contimuing but that wouldn't be an issue if Gane could keep himself from resorting to dirty tactics when things aren't going his way. Trouble finishing JDS? Elbow the back of his head. Can't finish Tuivasa and your fists are getting sore? Hammerfist the back of his head. Power Puncher threatening you? Put fingers in his face and "Accidentially" gouge his eyes.

He shit the bed in his first 2 title fights, then was gifted a 3rd after a robbery against Volkov where he lost 19 out of 20 media scores and 92% of fans scores, and couldn't even get through 1 round of that without multiple eye pokes until he finally jammed his whole fingers into both eye sockets and got the fight scrapped.

They should give him the Arman treatment, but they won't, and will give him a 4th title shot instead, and I'll save you the suspense; he'll foul the shit out of whoever he fights there too.

Jones held it for years and his only defense was geriatric Stipe who hadn't fought in 3 years and was sent to the shadow realm in his last fight.

I mean it was a smart move for Jon, he had a good career management.

There is no UFC HW who deserves to fight for the title, so it doesn't really matter who fights for the UFC HW title next. Tell Paddy not to bother losing the weight he puts on out of camp and let him fight for it next. Or let Gane fight for it next. Or let them fight each other for an interim title.
