Yeah should be Volkov from a meritocracy perspective but from an entertainment perspective Gane vs Pereira is more of a spectacle the fans would be hyped for, that's likely what they'll do if they decide to do an interim title.

I'll take Jones or Pereira over Gane if Aspinall is ready to defend the title, but besides that it's Volkov or Waldo, both I'd put behind Gane.

Why are people so against Gane rematching? If Tom is good, he's the only one to make him look average in the 1st round. He won the 1st if you had to judge it. The eye poke was ruled accidental and he didn't get a win from it. Also if you want him punished so bad, punish Gaethje too and say the Paddy win didn't count.

Two titlist's facing each other slows shit down dramatically and takes away from the integrity of the rankings, and I find it bizarre any true MMA fans embrace gimmicky marketing bullshit over merit.

Jon Jones knows how to play the game inside and outside the cage. At the end of the day people will only remember your record. Again I don't like him but he managed his career smartly. I used to think he was a coward for not rematching Gustafsson immediately but in hindsight, he was smart to wait until Gus was washed up.

Sure that's not the best warrior spirit there is, but that's definitely a page from Sun Tzu's Art of War.

Gus was coming off arguably beating DC (then current champ), Jan (future champ), and Glover (future champ) when the rematch with Jones happened. He was on the best run he'd had since his first title run.

Jon smashing him the way he did is arguably what caused the decline. Gus had spent his entire career thinking he was at that level, and again recently arguably proved it against DC, only for Jones to return and smash that notion to pieces.
