This is my feeling as well, while the Iranian government is shit and have given the US and Israel hundreds of reasons to hate their guts and want to see them gone, I have little confidence Whiskey Leaks Kegseth and Trump can pull this off without it becoming some level of a disaster.

There are major positions at the DoD that remain vacant and Hegseth hasn't even submitted recommendations to have them filled.

Also in regards to the UN, Israel generally votes along with the US, and the US opposed the most recent UN proposal for peace between Ukraine and Russia. They've previously supported similar resolutions so it's a bit more complicated than you've tried to imply.
