Do you still think Aspinall would beat Jones?

No its your narrative. Here is another one. Gane was about to crack and had to resort to eye gouging to survive.
Entirely plausible. Unfortunately, Tom quit instead of continuing the fight and breaking Gane.

Or more realistically Tom was double eye gouged and his vision was affected. Why should he fight a striker with his vision compromised?
He doesn’t have to continue, but there are many fighters who would continue with compromised vision.

Why should Gane be rewarded for his illegal eye gouging?
He shouldn’t.

Did you know that eye gouging is actually illegal in MMA? Seems like you think it is a legit tactic?
No; it’s illegal.

You even said Jon would win because he is a master at eye pokes so he would win against Tom.
Jon is a master of eyepokes and would probably cause Tom to quit easily, either by eye pokes or a combo of fouls and legitimate techniques.

I am not sure but if the Jon that finished his run at LHW shows up then I’d bet on Tom.

Jon looked great against Gane but that’s a great matchup for him. Same with the Stipe fight, I thought there were openings but Stipe is just too old at this time.

Tom is much more of a threat than those two and I hope we get to see it.

Aspinall is in his 30s and is 1-2. After a round. If Aspinall isn’t elite anyhwwre. He’s fast sure. Fighting Frankenstein.

Tom is English. Name me tjose elite English wrestler and jj guys.

Tom still beats Jon and Gane. Both are cheats and will cheat any way possible. Tom should decline any fight with the Gane bc of his nasty dirty cheat fingers. Gabe 8 was probably fingering his booty ho before walking out for the Tom fight.

I think Jones is a very different matchup than Gane.

Also, we only saw one round that was very competitive.

I also think Jones could fight Gane 10 more times and he likely wouldn't win as fast as he did in that first fight.

Ancient Stipe was also landing on Jones in their fight, so it's not a stretch to think Aspinall could do the same.

It's a shame we will likely never get to see it.

This isn't fucking 2014 any longer. Jones loses to Tom. And Sergei. And multiple others. Which is why he sits on a couch instead of competing.

Amazing that people still have no understanding what they're watching or understand REALLY basic concepts like the passage of time.

“We almost had him!!!”

I wonder if Sherdog will ever get over Jones retiring. Judging by these replies, it doesn’t look like it will happen anytime soon.

At least we have Jake Paul/Tom Aspinall fights to look forward to. …Right?

Is Tom the first fighter in MMA history that needed to wear glasses full-time after an eyepoke?

This guy can't stop making a fool out of himself.

I was hopeful of Tom beating Jon and really wanted to see it. I never was confident he could do it and things of late further gives me pause in thinking that he would win.

I’d be an Aspinall proponent for sure, however events since where Tom took an out from the fight with Gane leaves me questioning Aspinall’s mental fortitude. I don’t think that Tom should’ve fought after the eye poke, but the fact that he without a doubt wanted the fight stopped before even taking the 5 minute break to possibly get his bearings was a very bad look…. his tenacity is still a question mark to me, going into a fight with Jones is a guy you absolutely cannot beat unless you’re ready to go to war.

He's really hamming this up to be honest, a very carefully crafted presentation to try and add legitimacy to the stunt he pulled.

Tom's biggest problem is that he rushes in and is willing to eat hits to land his own. Any one of his shots can end the fight, so I kinda understand the rationale, but he got caught early against Pavlovich, and Blaydes in both of his fights with him. Doubtless Gane noticed that and used his strategy and footwork to not end up like those other guys. So it is a weakness, but again, Tom just need to land one hit. The dude's power is just ridiculous. If I were Jones I would try not to stand with him at all and try to take him down. Jones' typical striking strategy might not work against a young quick HW of Tom aspinall's size.
