Devil's Minions Team-summer Squat Competition

Mickey, TKM post your numbers. Nuge is not on my team....at least not based on the main page in the S/P.....

SORRY GUYS! was out camping for a few days and didn't have access to internet.

My 1rm is around 205 when the comp started and should make pretty rapid gains in the beginning since my legs have the strength of small african children.

I hope to end up at least to 305 and will be quite disappointed if i don't.

Right now I'm just doing a rippetoes routine since its pretty heavy on squatting and he swears that the noobie gains on the squats are amazing so im giving it a shot.

current 1rm: 205
Goal 1rm: 305

How do we win this shit? I need to squat today and I am debating finding a max 5rm or 1rm. 1rm would gain more total weight, but if I go off of 5rm then I'll probably gain some mass out of this (good).

Do your 1rm....and you'll get size gains doing 1-3 reps....the key is diet/eating more

Thinkgreen i'll get back to you about the video on the weekend probably...I am having trouble viewing the video...dont know why...

TKM welcome to the party...fuck 305....you gotta go for 315...3 plates....if you got the ability/motivation to do smolov then do it(both phases)...if not try 3x3 or some program with emphasis on lower body lifting with undulating periodization...the bottom line is to push yourself....

My 1rm is 255. I will be starting smolov or just a program that is high volume and intense in just over a week and a half. I've been feeling strong and everything is clicking so far for the past week.

alright....your goal for this challenge...is 315....

man that sounded like celebrity weight loss fitness in reverse... for a second...

TKM I understand...we all are...

Thanks DS.

I'm so happy the cycle takes a bit of a break, three straight days of squatting is pretty tough. At this point I don't care what Mr. Smolov throws at me, so long as I get a day between workouts (which I do, unless I missed something).

I was also a little curious about your take on belts. I don't have one and have never used one, and I know my numbers don't really justify it yet, but do you think it might be a good idea to use a belt for the heavier sets in Smolov? It's not so much the weight that makes me worry about it, it's just the amount of squatting. My back's been a tiny bit sore after the last couple of days, and I don't want to have a lame ass injury slow down my progress. What are your thoughts? I've done some searching around the forum and have come to the conclusion that I don't really need to use one normally, but the quantity and intensity of Smolov makes me wonder if I should invest.

DS, I now have the opportunity to train BJJ 6 days a week, and I'm taking my time adjusting to it, increasing my work capacity, etc.

Because of this it will take a few weeks to adjust and be ready to lift, so I'm going to pull out of the contest, not that I was officially in anyway.

Thanks DS.

I would. And did when I was going through smolov. My legs got used to the volume and frequency, but the lower back was taking a pounding a couple weeks in.

Thanks misses. I'm assuming Inzer is the way to go, everyone seems to praise them highly. Ah, money was so nice to have before it all went away...
