Just saw this. I gave it an 8/10 and though it is probably not rewatchable, but the gags keep rolling and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was mostly what I expected, thin on plot, heavy on laughs.

One thing that stood out was Wolverine's conversation with X23. Holy shit! Hugh Jackman was acting his ass off. Impressive piece of work from him IMO.

Love Dogpool. Cavillerine (H. Cavill as Wolverine) was good. I believe that man could do the Wolverine franchise proud. I actually prefer him as Wolverine over Supe.

Ryan Reynolds delivers again. Big Fan.

Sorry about that. I can't imagine why anyone is reading a thread about a movie if they haven't seen it though.

Not out of the theater not long ago, and I'll give it a 8.5

Non-spoiler points -
*It was light on plot, which is 100% fine for a comedy.
*It was heavy on the cameos, which is great for a swansong for the Fox-Comic-Book movies.
*Reynold & Jackman's chemistry was 10/10. Fulfilled expectations and then some.
*The fight scenes, especially Deadpool VS Wolverine, were both shot & choreographed to be hilarious.
*The villain was under-developed, although the character herself had potential and the actress would have been a perfect antagonist for a legitimate X-Men movie and was potentially wasted here.

Spoilers points -
*Henry Cavill's Wolverine.... was just a freakin taste of what we needed, and it absolutely wasn't enough. I suspect the filming process of that scene was to gauge his look & performance within that role, like a test-screening that was put into a movie and to gauge audience's reaction to it. But its absolutely clear that if Hugh doesn't want to do more MCU movies then Henry Cavill is on speeddial.

*I saw the trailer that featured the original Sabertooth and strongly hinted there would be a fight between him and Wolverine. Now I was actually hyped to see that rematch I've been hoping to see for 24 years.... and with an immediate beheading of Sabertooth I guess the joke is on me.

*I wasn't expecting Chris Evans, and I got to give them credit for hiding it was Johnny Storm rather than Captain America. His post-credit scene was gold, one of the best bits of the entire movie.

*I wasn't expecting Jennifer Garner because amongst all the rumors of a dozen characters were showing up, both Elektra and Daredevil were listed... and I thought 'no chance in hell.' But I throughly enjoyed seeing Jennifer Garner for one last time.

*If someone told me Wesley Snipes as Blade was going to appear I would have called bullshit. He & Ryan Reynolds worked on Blade Trinity and Snipes was an absolute nightmare to work with, so I got to go give Reynolds credit for reaching out and making this happen.

*Channing Tatum as Gambit... this is a great 'What If' in the same way we saw a taste of what would have been Nicholas Cage as Superman in the Flash movie.... and I'm glad this satisfied fans curiosity, but to be honest I doubt Tatum could have carried an entire film with that accent.

*X-23... this is the absolute best cameo, IMHO, because I'm a huge fan of the character since her introduction within the comics, and after rewatching Logan over the weekend she gave a 10/10 'silent performance,' which is especially impressive for a child. Dafne Keen deserves a big break into Hollywood, and I hope this is it.

Dafne Keen's dramatic scene with Hugh Jackman is one of the highlights of the entire movie.

Was very dissapointed she was 'killed off' along with Blade, Elektra, & Gambit so it was very satisfying to see her alongside Wolverine near the ending. She's alive, and hopefully she'll be making future appearances in the MCU, like in Thunderbolts.

In comparison to the other two Deadpool movies... its hard to tell now. Walking out of the theater I felt very satisfied overall, but is it 'better' than the first? I think I need to watch it again without the fan-service butterflies buzzing in my stomach to gauge the overall quality of the film.
But I think its probably better than the 2nd Deadpool film, which I probably need to rewatch sometime.

Sorry about that. I can't imagine why anyone is reading a thread about a movie if they haven't seen it though.
i think it’s fair to spoiler certain things for a new movie release because some people might want to follow along w/ the discussion to get their finger on the pulse, or simply out of curiosity, but not everyone can drop everything & make it to the theater opening weekend

I hope this isn't the last we see of either. I'd like to see them finally join the Avengers. Throw in the CAMEO characters, the three Spidermans, the OG Avengers, and you have a potentially epic ass movie.

@Dragonlordxxxxx @KnightTemplar

Who wins if Captain Marvel walks into Cassandra Nova's lair? What about Scarlet Witch? What about a massively charged Sebastian Shaw?

Two more points -

*Didn't care much for the licensed soundtrack. And it seems like a common flaw of recent Hollywood films to stockpile new movies with songs from 30-40 years ago, but it usually comes off as cheezy even in a comedy.

If I wanted to hear Madonna's 'Like a Prayer,' and I don't, I'll look it up. I don't need it inserted in a great movie I'm watching. Very intrusive. Very annoying. Doesn't add anything whatsoever.

Second point in spoilers -
*In the background of a few shots I thought I spotted Kelly Hu's Lady Deathstrike, but at no point was she ever given a close-up.

And, I just checked twitter, and this is the reason why they never bothered with the close-up.

Doubt Kelly Hu would have charged a big chunk of the movie's budget to get her to show up to the set for a day or two.

*Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

*Ryan Reynold's Deadpool.

*Tobey McGuire's Spiderman.

+ Cap and Iron man

I think those are the big 5.

I would put Thor and the other 2 Spideys(Tobey was my spidey) a step or two behind and then everyone else .

Saw it Sunday in IMAX. I thought it was great, perfect combination of violence and humor. I haven't laughed so much at a movie in a long time. The plot was a bit corny at times, but that is Marvel, I don't care. 9/10.

why stop at 2?

Because those 3 is all they'd need for $2 Billion global boxoffice.

No need for paying the 8-figure salaries to get the other two, besides the characters are dead.

The MCU needs to look toward the future while honoring the past but not resurrecting it.

Wanted to be more clear about this point regarding licenced music from 30-40 years ago, when I probably should mean 20-40 years ago.

I'm sure the automatic response would be 'Deadpool 1&2 had licensed music.' Yes, for the openings and endings, but the 3rd movie is where it gets excessive like...

Guess I'm one of the few that really appreciates an orchestral score, and licensed music pulls me out of the movie.

Overall, I really had a great time and enjoyed it enough to see it again the following night. But the things that didn't work for me really stood out and I can't wait to fast-forward through them once this hits streaming.

First, this whole premise of Vanessa being like "yeah, I know that in the first movie you murdered countless people to save me and in the second one you traveled through time to undo my murder, and you nobly were willing to get yourself killed to pull that abused orphan from the dark side, but I really need you to show me that you care about something". Fuck off. Levy has no idea what to do with Vanessa if he isn't fridging her.

Also, the whole peter thing. I too enjoyed peter in DP2 because he was just some dude who thought the ad for x-force tryouts sounded exciting and he was just a delight. I was happy to see him again. But then when it turns out the Deadpool Corps can indeed regenerate, we suck the air out of the room by having peter show up and all the DPs are like "oh yeah we all love peter! peter! peter! peter!" and just like that, problem solved: DP and W aren't in a pickle anymore. Sweet. The only thing worse than unfunny clownshoe horseshit is using unfunny clownshoe horseshit as your Deus Ex Machina. Oh yeah, and he's also handsome enough that it throws TVA lady off her game and his vouching for Wade was enough to let bygones be bygones. Hell yeah.

Chris Evans as Johnny Storm is a nice gag, but did DP really have to do a fuckin countdown to the punchline? The joke still works without DP going "omg he's gonna say it... here we go.... are you ready to laugh? Here comes the punchline..... in.... 3...... 2...... are you sure you ready? and........." I felt like Evans was back in Not Another Teen Movie.

But aside from those couple of things, this shit was awesome. DPvsW fight scenes were fantfuckinfourstic and Laura putting on the sunglasses had me squealing in delight.

8/10.
And if any of that sounded nitpicky and grumpy, well, I'm just a catty bitch when I'm jealous.

I will also say Reynolds really advocating for certain people and cameos really impressed me. Dude lobbied for a lot of cool shit for this movie and gave a lot of people their due.

That part really shined through and reading some articles from people talking about coming back or what it means to them is pretty fucking cool.

MCU Jesus for sure.

Who wins if Captain Marvel walks into Cassandra Nova's lair? What about Scarlet Witch? What about a massively charged Sebastian Shaw?
I'm assuming you're talking about the MCU versions of these characters. As the saying goes, it depends on the writer which character wins. But if I were to match them up with no prep time, this is how I see it.

Cassandra Nova > Captain Marvel
Cassandra is an Omega-level mutant. Her intangibility and fast regeneration will keep her safe for a while. Her telekinesis seems very powerful, as powerful as Ebony Maw's. She can toss around Carol with ease or incapacitate her long enough for her to touch her. Cassandra's telepathic powers work only by touch. After Cassandra does her gross fingers-in-the-head move, game over.

Scarlet Witch = Cassandra Nova
This is a toss up for me. Both very powerful. Both can instant kill a person.

Cassandra Nova > Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon)
Without his anti-Magneto helmet, Sebastian is fucked. Even if he has the Magneto helmet, he still loses. Cassandra's intangibility will keep her safe from any of Sebastian's offense. Cassandra will eventually find a way to get inside Sebastian's head and GG.
