DDP's weirdly effective striking is high level

It is the style from his region. It's an amalgam of karate, savate and kickboxing. It's a lot of stance switching and blitzing. The main difference is DDP can throw while moving backwards or blitz forward in the middle of an opponent's movement/combo. He doesn't reset like normal kickboxers. It is awkward to look at because he will throw when he is off center or not in stance. He is also very top heavy so he isn't the most graceful person.

He knocked Rob out pretty quickly. Probably sour grapes because Rob can't accept that someone who is not a technically pretty fighter beat him so easily.

I remember Strickland making fun of the way Poatan's striking looked as well and then getting knocked out by him in seconds lol

I wouldn't call his striking high level. I've never watched a DDP fight and be like " damn hes piecing this guy up " or " that was sick combination ", " amazing hands and kicks ".

Its effective because his awkwardness makes him difficult to read. Plus hes just a fucking tank at MW that when he lands his opponents feel it.

His awkwardness and physicality makes him a tough fight for anyone.

I'm not saying he's the best kickboxer on the planet but he has better pre MMA career striking credentials than 99% of the UFC roster.

And yet he is outstriking and landing the cleaner shots vs people as defensively sound as Izzy or Strickland.

Talking about sloppy technique from someone training KB at very high level since he was 14... it's his very effective (and technical) weird style.
He could fight by-the-books if he wanted to.

DDP will outstrike Khamzat if Khamzat decides to focus on a striking. Most who know striking would say this.

Khamzat's only chance to outstrike DDP is to put fear and doubt in him with wrestling like how Khabib beat the shit out of Conor and made him look like a joke.
