I'm not to involved in the new 52. Collected a few things but wasnt a big fan. So I'm almost as lost as you.

I agree, I prefer the old way. They need to stop fucking with time and multiple universes. Have one set of heroes. It's all to confusing.

From your description does she die or does she turn into the new universe.

From th small bits and pieces I have gathered over the last couple years she is/was the link to the pre flashpoint DC.

To me she was created in case they ever wanted to jump back to pre flashpoint universe

Quick story, I went to grade school with a very very talented artist who wanted to pencil comics. He was so super talented but he does air brushing now instead. I always wanted to see him get on a mainstream comic book.

So I just picked up Rebirth 1 and I have to say I liked it a lot. Johns doing what he does best, highlighting legacy and history as the focal point mixed with love & friendship.

The story is really good and is almost like this meta "apology" DC is giving to their fans for the last 5 years. It starts with Wally West trapped in the speed force, pointing out that Wally is one of the few beings who remembers the pre flashpoint universe.

Story does a few things
1) pulls real Wally back through the speed force in which he was trapped by Barry Allen. Allen finally remembers the pre flashpoint universe. Also explains the black Wally west.

2) Pandora is destroyed

3) reveal that Wonder Woman had a brother

4) Darkseid being reborn

5) Original Dr. Fate coming back appearing to Ted Kord, the original Blue Beetle, who is no longer the BB.

6) a shadowy unknown figure appears to what seems to be a version of Superman who was killed by Doomsday from way back when

7) reveals JSA Johnny Thunder remembered everything the entire time and is trapped in an old age home. He's called upon to call for help, when Wally tries to break free from th speed force

8) reveals 3 jokers which Seem to be the, pre-crisis, post-crisis & New52 Joker's.
9) Batman showing he has Watchmen "The Comedians" famous yello, blood splattered pin

9) huge reveal that the 10 years missing in the new 52 has something to do with what appears to be Dr. Manhattan and Veidt.

I'm leaving some stuff out, but this is decent checklist of the story.

Upon rereading it I might of misspoke on the black flash being gay.

There is a black kid, they mention swimming and his boyfriend and then he looks at the fish tank. Not sure who that will be.

No haven't read that yet but at the beginning of Rebirth it says to read Justice League 50 & Superman 52. I haven't read either but I'm sure they would help.

Gotta say this issue is awesome and I'm planning on reading through it again. Johns does some real good work here. It's like his love letter to DC. Making it seem like he was dragged through the new 52 and now he's fixing it.

If you're talking about the woman holding baby Darkseid...she is his daughter that was born the night of Diana. She is half amazon and Darkseid. Her mom escaped the isles and tried to teach her right but her inner darkseid kept killing.

She is the one who sought out anti monitor who initially kills Darkseid which has tremendous ramifications on the JLA.

The baby was born from the lois of the crime syndicate. That whole story is written by Geoff johns
