Boxing and MT(along with a few others) will teach a woman to KO a grown man dude...

I was just showing this girl tonight how to throw spin elbows and she almost knocked me down and she's smaller than me. The reason why you think girls can't fight back is because your stuck in the Mcdojo MA thinking mode where you think of a girl trying to do a jump spinning kick on the streets whereas in real life, all a girl has to do is punch the nose, kick the balls, up elbow the chin, poke the eye of a full grown man.

All you need is a slpit second of distraction to run away(the smart thing to do).

though i dont agree with booge for the majority of the topic. a well trained athletic chick would be able to easily defend herself against average joe. most guys don't even know how to throw a punch.

Yeah you need a split second of distraction to ran away.

But I donno about KOing a man dude. I don't think any woman below 150 lb can KO a fit man in guard unless we are talking about some top pro-fighters. When I was like 19 I sparred with a girl in my boxing gym - she was the daughter of my instructor and she was very fit since she learned boxing since she was young and was 100 meter splinter. Maybe it is because of weight difference, since I was like 225 back then and she looked no more than 140, but I simply dodged and took her punches with no guard and frequently slapped her guard to push her back when I thought I took too much punches. I did that for like 3 rounds and wasn't stunned at all. Her punches were pretty fast and they hurt but wasn't near as powerful enough to affect through my brain. That's when I staplized my wrong interpretation of women.... .

Here in America women look much taller and stronger (and very aggressive too!) than Asian women so maybe it is a bit different. Who knows.... .

Wow really? Hmm... maybe I was a dumb sexist after all :D

But still... man, wouldn't it be very hard to defend herself if the offender outweighs her too much.... he will just hug her and bring her down. Unless he's a simplton.... .

Well since she is a tall girl try and use it to her advatage.

1. be aware of the opponents quick dash or attack since they will be smaller
2. when the opponent attacks, cut the attack with the lead leg kick and then counter attack
3. use long distance type strategy
4. use footwork and feinting to create a chance to attack
5. break the opponents stance
6. confuse the opponents sense of distance
7. before attacking, incline the upper body and dash in
8. use quick, surprise attacks
9. use side step or back step attacks

Crimson Tiger, elbows are the ultimate weapon for close combat. That's why I train the girls at my class in elbows so much; because all it takes is one elbow to the throat/face to stun a guy, no matter how big he is, for enough time to run or kick them in the balls.

Spin elbow generates alot of power and momentum and doesn't take much effort.

Oh, yeah... if you are talking about elbow, I give you 100% support. Elbows are great, and the spinning elbow is sick. You taught the girl a spinning elbow and let her smash you with that? Either your are a crazy tough mofo or you were underestimating female strength too :D confess it dude.

BTW how is it to train with Carter Williams. Is he gonna fight in Vegas for upcoming fight?

Yeah! I got my Yellow belt! Now 100 more posts to go, and I'm getting my avartar!!!!!!!!!!!!

RCCOLA: I think what you got till now is more than enough - I mean, if your daughter can absorb them all, she will win the tornament - which is very hard and unlikely to happen. Because they seem to be easy in a text, but they are actually quite hard to perform in a sparring. Especially your daughter is 10 yrs old... so stick with the plan that came up till this point. And train her a lot in step in roundhouse - step back movement. I personally don't think she will be able to remember moving sideways during the sparring.... .

We spar every night for about 45 min and she loves it too. Thanks for your help guys, I'll keep you posted on how she does.

Yeah that will be cool. But man, you are gonna make your daughter a tough girl, aren't you.

Hey, there certainly are enough assholes out there who assult woman. I think we both know that.
I've pretty much told my daughter that she can start dating when she can whoop me in a stand up fight. That gives her 6 more years of TKD, so it should happen.
I need to know that she can handle herself if things get out of hand on the street, in a bar, in a dorm, a car etc....
Plus, I think her fantasy is represent Canada at the Olympic Games. She got so excited when she found out it was an Olympic event!!
So I say, skies the limit.

Cool. Sounds like you are a good father. I guess being a father is a quite hard thing :) I am gonna be married soon if things don't go bad (I need a full-time job though... I'm a college student with an age of 31). I wish I be a good father since my parents weren't that careful to me (oh, I still love them.).

There are some pretty tough girls out there...Against an untrained guy They could do some damage.

But You right that most of the time it would proabably be better to get off a few good shots that stun them and run.

I always use thai pads man.

And it's great to train with a few pro's especially one as good as Carter; he's gonna be on MTV. MTV is gonna do a special on his life and you'll prolly see me on it too.

Yes, he is fighting in the qualifier coming up. Tomorrow he's fighting in an MMA event for some title.

Hey, with all the shit going on these days, the thought of letting her out by herself scares me. So her MMA training is as much for my peace of mind than it is for he safety.

1) I don't think learning how to punch helps to win a TKD tornament. She's a 10 yr old girl, and no matter how hard she train, she wouldn't be able to have punch power to drop an opponent through her protective equipment which is mendatory to wear in a TKD match
Hey, check this. Her master put her with the highest belt in the kids class. A boy who is red belt, one step below black in her TKD, and the master's oldest son!
During sparring she actually knocked him off his feet with a roundhouse kick!! He's very cocky, as you can imagine, but he dropped him, it was great. He did beat her but by only one point.
She has a tourny on Feb 22nd and now she can't wait. Neither can I to be honest!
:D

Damn!!! Man, your daughther is truly a talented one!!! I sense force within her :D
