DWCS Dana's Contender Series 2025 thread

A good manager should chase the fight with Vidal in the latest week of the season
I think a lot of LHWs or even big MWs could look good against him

I think that Paxley (?) guy who was booked originally but couldn't make weight in time will probably get it.

This is what I'm expecting as well. He didn't look good, but he did get a finish - either episode 10 or next season perhaps.

Lookin forward to Week 7 and the middleweight bout between Mantas and Barbir.

Ive watched Barbirs last fight live in Zagreb where he knocked the F out of Spahovic, hope he can do the same in 2 weeks and become the next Balkan UFC fighter.

He's extremely athletic from what I've seen of him, looking forward to it.

I know many people hate Dana White. He ain't perfect, but at least he isn't a corporate soulless hack. He at least loves the sport.
I don't actually believe that he does.

I think he loves violence and money. I don't think he actually likes MMA that much at all TBH.

He was also on my short list, with Lucas Fernando, who lost to Cesar Almeida 2 years ago

Interesting, assumed he'd be invited back for episode 10. This guy seems like a striker as opposed to Franco who was more wrestly.

Icaro Brito is out because of visa issues for the second year
Last year Jose Delgado took his spot on short notice, got signed, and has now 2 or 3 fights in the FC

PREDICTIONS:

135lbs - Uchegbu with a late TKO, gets a contract.

185lbs - McCorry by submission, gets a contract.

155lbs - Livingston by KO, gets a contract.

205lbs - Aly by decision, gets a contract.

135lbs - Sosa, 1st round KO, contract.

5/5

Week 9: Luke Fernandez vs Pergentino at LHW. It's gonna be Pergentino's first fight at LHW
I guess they're figuring out if Joksovic can make it for the last week or finding a substitute to fight Michael Oliveira but I think the rest of the cast is done (outside late notice replacements)
Brave CF announced that they signed Joksovic.

Robbie Ring is having a second shot at the DWCS, replacing Brito to fight Reyes on short notice

Damian Pinas and Vitor Costa, who had to pull out because of visa issues, are now fighting each other in week 8 (poor Pinas, going from facing Talha at MW to Vitor Costa at LHW)

Welcome to the UFC Javier Reyes

It went very poorly for him last time

I'm super stoked about Tommy Gantt getting signed. I'll be honest, when I first saw that he was doing some MMA I didn't think much of it. Because he was 30, turning 31, so I figured he was just cross-training and it wasn't that serious. Coupled with the fact that he had zero social media about it, all his social media was about his college coaching.

He could have made a big deal and statements to wrestling media about his transition to MMA, and had articles written about him and people talking about him. His wrestling credentials are not bad. And then fought once a year. But instead, he went out and did 10 fights in 18 months. And now he's in the UFC.

I am worried with his age, you just don't know how much mileage he has left, and he's still new to the game and hasn't fought a lot of quality competition, so I'm both still a bit worried he's out of time/too inexperienced. But I wish more wrestlers would treat MMA the way that he has. Don't make a spectacle. Just quietly improve and handle business. A lot of wrestlers love popularity, some wrestlers love fighting. The ones who like popularity don't last long in a profession that requires a love for fighting.

I guess he couldn't get the medicals cleared
