Dana White: Conor McGregor ‘is my Ali and Tyson’

Dana is correct as per usual.

Two dons!

At least Ali and Tyson weren't afraid to defend their belts.

MMA is still not a big sport, the majority of people on the street probably have no idea who Conor is, whereas everyone knows who Tyson and Ali are.

You don't care about Ali being a racist, therefore it's okay for him to be racist?

You don't care what happens outside the ring? Then what about Ali getting stripped of the belt and license and sitting out for years during his prime, you also not care about that? Why do you cry about Conor throwing a dolly, which clearly happened outside the ring?

You're so full of shit, clearly just a Conor hater completely devoid of basic logic and reason

Well look, there it is. Another retarded hater. Could have just dropped your pretense and said this in the first place, instead of spewing all that nonsense in "defense" of Ali.

BTW, I'm gonna use your logic: I don't give a fuck all the bad shit Conor did, therefore everything he did was a-okay. If it's okay to harass someone at their home, be a disgusting racist and sit out for 3+ years during your prime and get stripped of your belt, it sure as hell is okay to do everything Conor did. Conor elevated the sport of MMA more than Aldo ever did. Keep holding bitterness deep in your bum soul.

He got stripped of his licence for rightly refusing to engage in the Vietnam War.

Good on him.

Dude Conor is a global star. People know who he is..

”To compare anybody to Ali is kind of stupid because of all the other great things that were associated with him from a social movement and everything else,” White admitted at the time.“But Conor has just got that sparkle, that thing to him. Wherever he goes -- whether we put him on TV, whether he’s doing an interview, whether he’s around a group of people -- he just is the center of attention. He’s got that special quality, and for a guy that’s fought in the UFC four times to have the interest of GQ Magazine, Men’s Health, ESPN? He’s got it.”

He is the greatest mental warfare fighter I have ever met,” he said. “Ever. The best. He doesn’t just fuck with the guys he’s going to fight. He fucks with everybody. I know it’s sacrilege to compare anybody to Muhammad Ali in anything in the fight business. You don’t ever want to be comparing people to Muhammad Ali, but he’s the only one who comes to mind when it comes to the mental warfare that Conor wages.”

latest

One of the reasons the sport is dieing right here. If Dana loves Conor so much he should quit and be his personal promoter lol.

if you know anything about ali at all i'd say its hard not to make the comparison. ali was hated by many in his time as well and it is conveniently forgotten how horrible his publically stated opinions were.

" It reflected a hateful worldview that Ali, as a devotee of Elijah Muhammad and the segregationist Nation of Islam, espoused for years. At one point, he even appeared before a Ku Klux Klan rally. It was “a hell of a scene,” he later boasted — Klansmen with hoods, a burning cross, “and me on the platform,” preaching strict racial separation. “Black people should marry their own women,” Ali declaimed. “Bluebirds with bluebirds, red birds with red birds, pigeons with pigeons, eagles with eagles. God didn’t make no mistake!”

In 1975, amid the frenzy over the impending “Thrilla in Manila,” his third title fight with Joe Frazier, Ali argued vehemently in a Playboy interview that interracial couples ought to be lynched. “A black man should be killed if he’s messing with a white woman,” he said. And it was the same for a white man making a pass at a black woman. “We’ll kill anybody who tries to mess around with our women.” But suppose the black woman wanted to be with the white man, the interviewer asked. “Then she dies,” Ali answered. “Kill her too.”"

thats ali, and now we got conor calling siver a nazi, talking about massacring and enslaving brazillians in aldos favella etc.

now obviously conor is just a hype job and his record is fucking rubbish compared with ali's, but that doesnt mean there arent similarities. basically they both got their fame from being loudmouth trainwreck assholes, with the key difference that ali was actually prepared to put a belt on the line while conor just grabs belts then runs away. nobody will be talking about conor after he retires because he just doesnt have the body of work, but there are still comparisons to be made

Tyson in his prime versus Conor in terms of popularity he is on that level. Check the numbers. 1 million buys every time out. Global media coverage.
<36>

no one gives a shit about conor in germany, italy & spain.

Tyson was/is bigger.

Put him in this era and only jesus would be more popular than him.

he said the same about chuck back then. then matt hughes once. then anderson silva. then ronda rousey. now it's conor. it will be someoby else later on.

Agreed.

And Dana is MMA’s Don king!
Slimy reptilian motherfucker

Ngannou was Dana's Tyson, until he lost. Then he was just some ego freak lol.

embarrassing and pathetic.

If people seriously don’t get what he’s saying you’re dumb as fuck.

Ali didin't lose 3 times before age 30. Neither did Tyson. Ali was much better at the trash talk too and more varied with it.
