Trump lying to americans once again:

Trump also told his audience, “I met with the leaders of health insurance industry who have agreed to waive all co-payments for coronavirus treatments, extend insurance coverage to these treatments and to prevent surprise medical billing.” The Insurance Industry quickly announced it had only agreed to cover testing, not treatment, for the coronavirus.

I agree with the travel ban. We need a lot more testing though. Should have been done weeks ago

The only people who would disagree are selfish A-holes who care more about whatever event than people's safety

Don't worry his knights will come running in an explaining his motives like he really cares about people.

What numbers am I fudging? I’m curious to see what’s wrong with my analysis. You can provide me the numbers if you want, anything, and I’ll break them down.

As for the RATE being unreliable, have a quick read here: https://academic.oup.com/aje/article/162/5/479/82647
The estimates obtained during the SARS epidemic by dividing the number of deaths by the total number of reported cases were much lower (3–5 percent during the first few weeks of the global outbreak) than those obtained when appropriate statistical techniques were used and varied significantly between countries (6–8). Furthermore, as the epidemic progressed, these statistically naïve estimates falsely suggested a rise in the case fatality ratio (9), fueling the already high levels of public alarm in the affected populations.

Post right above yours, I illustrate why that fuzzy math does not work. H1N1 had estimates of 20% fatality during the outbreak. In the United States we were 7% fatality rate, then when the tests came in, that number dropped significantly. Exact same thing happened in South Korea. What does it mean? Fatality rates are absurdly unreliable. To this day, there can be a stat proving H1N1 had a 3% fatality rate, while CDC numbers showed that it had only a 0.02% fatality rate.

Why is that? Because its impossible to determine proper infected numbers?

All I know is the stock market was never this bad in other pandemics

What about the people with health insurance providers not in that group he talked to?

And did he say anything about the Elephant in the Room: the huge amount of people that have no health insurance and can't afford a doctor's visit, let alone a test, let alone a quarantine?

I'm kinda shocked that hasn't even been talked about, let alone policies made for. I mean, since all this takes is like 1 person, what's the point of quarantining and testing 90% of the population if 10% is just ignored and spreads it anyways?

Now the insurance companies look like assholes. Negotiating tactic. 5D-chess.

I hope this is a joke...

A bad joke

Nope. It’s how disgusting the left actually is. Keep in mind this is the same party that wants women to be able to kill unborn infants if they feel like it too.

I Am not at the computer so my post will be limited.

the formula for death rate is as follows. Outcome of total closed cases(recovery rate vs death rate)(Cumulative total deaths and recoveries overcumulative number of closed cases)

As of today, we are sitting at 72% death rate using that metric.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

the number is highly unreliable

vast majority will be unconfirmed/underreported cases, where someone with the virus shows little to no symptom and fights it off.

Don't know if you've noticed, but as there's more recoveries, more testing and more reliable numbers from countries like Italy, the estimates haven't been going down. Just the opposite.

Our response has been appalling. USA was not prepared at all for this, and those in charge of responding to this crisis are more concerned with not offending anybody.

The Chinese fucked up. Egotistical people spread this virus because "YOLO, DURR!"

We can't lock our borders in USA because it's wayciss, since we're so fuckin clean n pure here.

Now everyone needs tp for their bungholes. Priorities...

Your interests aren't being represented. The president is taking meetings with insurance companies. The little people aren't on the schedule.

Wow, if they're negotiating tests with the biggest insurance companies, the testing criteria are going to be so stringent that no one gets tested. lmao .

That's not enough though. What if you don't heave health insurance? What if you can't even afford to go to the doctor to get referred for a test, let alone afford the test? Going to an urgent care, since you don't have a primary care physician and a co-pay if you don't have insurance, costs like $200 and lot of young service workers don't have that.

something, something, bootstraps.
if the insurance companies have any sense of self preservation, they would co-operate with offering free tests, otherwise, the fallout from this crisis could see the introduction of universal healthcare , putting an end to their cosy little racket. if it gets as bad as italy, i can see news footage of poor people and uninsured suffering under the private system bringing an end to all the MAGA bullshit.

I don't know... The US population has shown itself surprisingly resilient to common sense. Americans would probably happily go back to work, slaving away to pay their outrageous covid medical bills.

That’s the most extreme cases and almost impossible to do. Collections will pick up your bill then you simply never pay them either.
If you don’t have money they can’t take anything.
Then everyone else's rates go up next year, insurance companies will never lose under our current system
