On the upside, this could kill lots of boomers
You're a fucking idiot.

I actually I hope I get dubs for that too, it would be well worth it.

Why do you keep comparing unlike figures?

I just showed the confirmed (laboratory) cases in 2009 en media res during the outbreak, and the number of deaths at that time, compared to the number of confirmed cases in the USA, and the number of deaths. Apples to apples. That was in the introduction to that study which wasn't analyzing deaths at the time as a matter of the final outcome (recovered or died).

Yes, the nursing home might be skewing our death rate for this figure, since the total cases is only just above one thousand, but as I already pointed out, our death rate versus our confirmed cases rate is lower than the global ratio so far (which is to be expected since we were hit later in the chain).
well, the whole point I'm making is that your rate numbers are skewed and varied from day to day.

Lets get some doom and gloom numbers, today is a new day.

With the TESTING TESTING TESTING TESTING TESTING, many places are getting hypertested, and coronavirus isnt so severe.... well, it never was
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/coronavirus-81-of-cases-are-mild-study-says
Coronavirus: 81% of cases are 'mild,' study says

A new paper by the Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CCDC) finds that the majority of coronavirus cases are mild, with older adults and people who have other conditions being most at risk.

--------------

lets see how mild coronavirus can be
stats from https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus

ACTIVE CASES

Italy 9562 in mild condition 90%, 1028 in serious or critical 10%

South Korea, 7416 in mild condition 99%, 54 in serious or critical 1%

Germany 2082 in mild condition 99.5%, 9 in serious or critical 0.5%

Spain 2571 in mild condition 95%, 126 in serious or critical 5%

France 2116 in mild condition 95%, 105 in serious or critical 5%

USA, Donald Trump land, 1301 in mild condition, 10 in serious or critical 1%

literally a nothingburger in many parts of the world. South Korea and Germany are at hypertesting levels, and who would have guessed, the more you test, the more doom and gloom rates go down.

china was the hardest hit with literally the worst rate of all these countries, yet the recovery rate stands at 95%, and considering many cases NOT EVEN TESTED due to high amount of mild cases, the numbers are exaggerated 10 fold.

compared to ebola, if you're confirmed to have ebola, you're fucked with only 60% recovery rate
SARS, MERS, Bird flu, all worse***** and even those were widely considered nothingburgers.

Is @chardog like this because Trump said it was a nothingburger a few days ago? You know Trump has updated stance now, right? He says its ok panic. You should move on to admitting this is a catastrophe, but just blame the Dems for it or something.

Dont let facts and evidence get in the way of your cool story.

out of 300,000,000 americans, 10 are in serious or critical condition due to coronavirus. LMAO, total scare mongering.

Its a sign of weakness apparently within the Trump crowd to ever be able to change your mind. I implore you to find some examples on this site of Trumpers changing their minds. Just doesn’t happen. They plead ignorance and once they do that there is no coming back.

On a side note a lady who works in my office just stopped me and asked if I was afraid of the Corona Virus. I told her I’m being cautious and I’m more concerned about the economy and all these shutdowns. She proceeded to tell me the regular flu is much worse and this is a hoax being perpetuated by liberals. I literally laughed in her face then walked away.

I’m starting to believe that Trumpers are a different species of hominid.

Be sure to tag me when the virus is out of control

My step brother works in an old folks home, several co-workers are on vacation , one is returning tomorrow after six weeks in Thailand , the guy is coming straight from the airport into work .

This can't be a good idea , should there be a mandatory two weeks of isolation from anyone returning from overseas ?

That sounds extreme but is there a better idea ?

shes just parroting what she hears..https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-51840227

The gross incompetence displayed by this administration in handling this situation has put the nation's wellbeing in extreme jeopardy. Criminally negligent ineptitude in fact.

You have no fecking clue what you are talking about, I'm Canadian , last week my wife was very ill , took her into emerg after phoning the online doctor hotline , they had her in a special isolation room within 10 minutes , gave her three IVs , and tested her for covid19 , great care , they did a great job , in the end she has pneumonia not covid19 .

Last week in British Columbia alone, population 5 million , we had tested more people than the entire US , and as an aside we spend half as much per person than you do .

The flaws in your healthcare system are on full display.
bruh, all indications show that pneumonia is infinitely worse than coronavirus, it's really nasty stuff.

there are literally hundreds of pneumonia deaths daily (america alone), nobody bats an eye.

First Baltimore county Maryland patient is a 60 year old believe to have got from working at cpac

Dude. What?

You do realize you posted about your experience in the other thread in real time and it was anything but great.

Why are you doing this now?

No country besides SK is remotely prepared for this. And shit is gonna happen

Ben Shapiro seems to be for socialism when it affects him.

Someone took their anti crazy pills this morning.

You actually are capable of making sense... bravo

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic_in_the_United_States

confirmed cases of H1N1, 115K, confirmed deaths 3.4K = 3%, all closed cases.

when comparing all closed cases coronavirus is sitting at an unhealthy 72% fatality rate.

apples to apples.

you dont compare All cases opened or closed vs All deaths, that's a flawed analysis.

either way, both of these studies are missing a crucial element. Testing.

How we test in America is not how testing is done in Korea, not how testing is done in Germany.

at some point, you'll have to acknowledge that your methodology is simply wrong. Reread the article from Oxford: https://academic.oup.com/aje/article/162/5/479/82647

During an outbreak of a novel or emerging infectious agent such as SARS, one of the most important epidemiologic quantities to be determined is the case fatality ratio—the proportion of cases who eventually die from the disease. This ratio is often estimated by using aggregate numbers of cases and deaths at a single time point, such as those compiled daily by the World Health Organization during the course of the SARS epidemic (5). However, simple estimates of the case fatality ratio obtained from these reports can be misleading if, at the time of analysis, the outcome is unknown for a nonnegligible proportion of patients. The estimates obtained during the SARS epidemic by dividing the number of deaths by the total number of reported cases were much lower (3–5 percent during the first few weeks of the global outbreak) than those obtained when appropriate statistical techniques were used and varied significantly between countries (6–8). Furthermore, as the epidemic progressed, these statistically naïve estimates falsely suggested a rise in the case fatality ratio (9), fueling the already high levels of public alarm in the affected populations.

---------------------------------

The formula they use includes RECOVERY as a factor, it's modeled out in the paper. It points out other flaws, such as a standard method of reporting, which can lead to over or under reporting.

in other words, it's a mathematical formula that has too many caveats to be reliable. In america, you dont go to a lab to get tested without a doctors direction...... how many people are NOT being tested? For all we know, there's likely already 100K cases of coronavirus in america, many too mild to report. H1N1 had 115K confirmed cases, however CDC estimated that 60.8 million had the infection. It's very likely that 10's of millions already have coronavirus, the virus itself doesnt care if we test or not. it doesnt care about the stock market or travel ban. It doesnt care about the news cycles.
