Conor McGregor's legacy | Shattered or building?

As the guy who dethroned Aldo and the first to win two belts.

And the guy that lost a fight against a middle ranked oponent on 10 days notice and failed to defend a title.

Both points we make are true, so not a true great for me.

I hope he gets his shit together, because if he were to retire now, he would be remember as the guy who said the most insulting and audacious shit, only to tap to a face squeeze.

It's a shame because he is a great fighter, really.

Oh you know. Winning two championships in cage rage. Running through the FW division. KO'ing the FW GOAT in 13 seconds. Destroying the LW champion with ease. Becoming the biggest star MMA has ever seen. That kind of legacy.

Again, you're only seeing what you want to see. Also it was cage contender, but I guess no difference.

He also quit twice when the going got tough and never defended a title. Struggled badly with fighters with no training camps.

Your points are true, but so are mine.

A very good fighter with some great moments.

A talented striker that lacks heart. Only a great front runner.

2 worst thing Conor did to this sport,

1) Brought in a bunch of fans who nothing of MMA, and are strictly annoying Conor fans and would believe anything Conor related.

2) Brought in a bunch of copycat fighters who imitate Conor (Colby, DIllon, that irish kid from Bellator) thinking that will make them big just like Conor.
These things he did not do himself. Cant blame him for that.

Please brother don't blow smoke into my eyez Winning two championships that were never defended, hopscotching & dodging dudes through the FW division, I won't take away the Aldo victory he did that. Olympic level high jump over all killa's @LW to fight the 1st time 1 & done and now gone former champ Eddie Alvarez...

His one and only legacy is being the most popular fighter in the UFC with the most Twitter followers.

A man that came from relatively nothing to millions in the bank and at one point and Time having countless fans Hanging on your every word and loving every minute of it, and countless others so riddled with jealousy that they would never accomplish 1/1000 of what he did. Lol got to respect that legacy

I don't think you know the meaning of legacy that's ↑↑↑ a bio, and has little to do with what's he's really accomplished in mma that others can look to as fighting achievements & milestones.

Everyone knows he didn't defend his belts. It doesn't negate the fact the he beat two UFC champions. Why do people act like it does? lmao

Dodging dudes? Conor was the one to take last minute replacements on more than one occasion. He'll literally fight anyone. As he proved coming back to fight Khabib after making millions. LOL

He will be remembered for the attention he brought to the sport, the hype he was capable of generating and the money he made. Make no mistake about it, McGregor understands the fight business and influenced a bunch of fighters to do the same.

As of now, he won’t be remembered for the winning streaks or title defenses, but we can’t deny what McGregor did for this sport.
Very objective and accurate assessment of him. I will add he McGregor possessed excellent striking skills, top of the class. No one can deny what he did and the way he did it to Porier and Alvarez.

He will end up like George Best. Drinking his way through three livers. It's the way of the Irish.

Win a belt defend, defend a belt it's a two part process brother, any hump can win a belt but can you defend it Matt Serra won a belt and now he's a trivia question. Frankie Edgar, Ricardo Lamas, Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephens, all active at the time @FW but somehow Conor missed them..?

Hats off for him fighting Khabib because I honestly thought he would've avoided that fight, but then again he may have been under Proper 12 bravery and started to think that he could truly get by on mind games and his left hand...

I don't give a shit what anyone says. UFC 189 was one of the best events ever, and Conor has delivered again and again. The excitement he brought was second to none.

<{cruzshake}>

Oh yeah? Except only a very small percentage of fighters ever even touch a belt, let alone two.

Ohhh nooo not Cub Swanson!!!1!11!!!

Edgar is the only one of those guys that Conor should have fought, which he would have had Edgar beaten Aldo at ufc 200 lol.

Exactly. He fought someone wayyy more dangerous than any of the guys you claimed he ducked, coming off a lay off. There's lots of things you can say about Conor but he is not a duck, nor is he scared of anyone.

If beating two UFC champions was so easy everyone would do it.

He will be remembered as a manlet beater. Average fighter when fighting guys his own size.
Khabib missed weight and had cutting complications before. Khabib legit having seizures to make 155. But the guy who made weight his entire career and never pulled out is the manlet beater......

Conor was high 160s when he was a fw. A 20-25lb cut is decent cut but nothing crazy.

The Conor hate is so strong its becoming delusional.

Some people are more disciplined and/or have an easier time making weight than others. Plus, the topic is about Conor, not Khabib.

Conor fought manlets. Deal with it.

He could come back foe a ppv on a monday night and it would do 1 mill +

Half the threads are still about Conor LMAO

....Aldo was legit the same size as Conor besides reach. The only small guys Conor fought were brimage, brandao, and mendes. Dustin, Max, Aldo, Alverez are all decent sized guys, the only think Conor had on em was reach and maybe 1"height.

Thats like saying Jones made a career fighting manlets since he cuts weight, and fights guys shorter and much less reach.

And what percentage of fighters get red carpet rides and golden paths to belts with management aide..?

Cub Swanson>>>>Dennis Siver>>>> Marcus Brimage>>>> Diego Brandao

Conor's
bravado is bigger than his skillz in the cage I have no doubt he self talked himself to really think he was gonna bounce Khabib's head off the canvas that was until Khabib grabbed a hold of him he probably thought he was gonna Eddie Alvarez the awkward Khabib,he was wrong.

I don't think Conor really wants a Khabib rematch and I think he comes back to a comfort fight with Nate Diaz then he goes Keyser Soze

Say that all you want. He performed when he needed to against Aldo and Alvarez. Nothing can take those championship performances away from him. Conor vs Alvarez is top 3 best performances I've ever seen in a fight.

Losing alone does not shatter a legacy. There is a thing called a comeback. Ali lost. There is a also something called a rematch.

And I agreed with you on both, Aldo clean win. Alvarez clean win it's his paths to those clean winz I question.
