Media Conor Mcgregor just solved fighter pay and is about to give UFC a run for their money.

Don’t act like this kind of money couldn’t draw away a bunch of UFC stars.

It's more likely to never take place, bankrupt BKFC or piss off the investors actually bankrolling this, but your head is jammed so far up Conor's ass you haven't seen the sun in months.

If its open weight, might as well call it worlds baddest sherbro tournament. 2 or 3 shermanos enter and the tournament has 0 intrique left.

(1) it’s a lot of legal liability to lie about a event like this

(2) what makes you think bkfc would announce such a event without investors on board?

(3) it is more fair to assume any business/company is acting in good faith than not.

We’ll find out in a year if this event goes down or not, I’d say it happens.

PFL spent like 25% of this for one fight with Ngannou, at least this is a tournament.

How many people won’t resign new contracts once it’s up for this kind of money?
If they are currently under contract they wont do shit...
You should spend a minute reading up on how ufc contract works.

Rumored fighters include Rampage, Junior Dos Santos, Ben Rothwell, Alexander Gustafsson, Alan Belcher, Hector Lombard, Thiago Santos

All fighters I don't want to see take any more brain damage

There's something depressing about watching older beat up fighters still fight in MMA after they should've retired but doing it in bare knuckle just feels extra dirty

less people watch it than boxing yet they are going to be able to pay out 25 mil and not take a massive hit? i highly doubt that. either they are doing shady business to get that money or are doing shady business and lying about the prize pool to the fans for marketing.

BKFC seems to be doing well.. also the 25M would be distributed in a gazillion events.

Friday was full of weird announcements from BKFC. Did they really just buy Lethwei to go with their Ice Wars? They signed old UFC fighters and gonna do an open weight tourney sounds like they are giving up on making Bare Knuckle legitimate sport and going for blood and gore. Sad to give up on that I liked BKFC though I would have limited the titles and focused on merging it with BKB.

Also, Triller owns it and TrillerTV (FITE). And Triller isn't doing too well at the moment they put all their focus into making their social media app replace TikTok and not looking like TikTok going anywhere.

I know it's popular to clap for fighter pay, but I'd love to see more combat sports make profit afterwards. We're in a tough spot where combat sports are paying out more than what events even take in. There's always shady investors and guys who back this stuff and seem to know how to manipulate some financial systems to keep doing it. But it seems like most these finances are sourced from speculation and imaginary thin air.

Top athletes are now expecting these unrelealistic pay days, hence so much negotiations in mma/boxing. Just seems like the disconnection between events pulling in profit will catch up eventually and there will be consequences. More bankruptcies and closures. Fans and fighters rather enjoy the short term gain of fighter pay instead of cracking how to bring in more profit each event to pay guys more naturally over time.

There's tons of rich guys flush with money after covid and this is a way to burn it, but I would like to see healthier approaches that sustain orgs than this money out of thin air approach. Before you get the private equity vultures that follow the sears formula and siphon off all value by collapsing it.
