I’m pretty sure it’s also because of people like Speed who are giant social media stars going there and having a good time. USA has portrayed China as a third world shit hole for decades so when people watch their favorite streamer having a blast over there it changes their perspective and makes them question what the media has been saying.
Certainly the standard of living in China has improved simnifically quicker than here in the US over the last 40 years.

The standard of living in dozens of countries across the world has improved more in that time period because so many of them lived in such squalid conditions a mere four decades ago, and most of them, like China, have the USA to thank for this more than any other nation-- often including their own government.
You mustve misinterpreted my post, I never claimed this was propaganda just that it could be. I also never disputed the facts of the matter. And I asked if somebody holds similar positions but they came to them through their own reason is that propaganda? And he was saying it's still propaganda and I just didn't know it.
I think those habits will die out with the older generation. They are annoying though. The bathroom thing sucks and it requires some research. You need to carry those little wipes that they sell in almost every convenience store or supermarket. Also shopping malls and western establishments have the toilets we like. Squat toilets can be okay as long as they clean them. Any bus station is going to be terrible. I nearly threw up in those.

Look, you’re dodging the point. The propagandist’s claim—‘only China used trade wealth to build’—is a flat-out lie, not some nuanced take on NAFTA. Yes, trade like NAFTA and China’s WTO entry cost manufacturing jobs. Nobody’s denying that hit the middle class. But to pretend the U.S. built nothing with trade wealth is absurd and swallows the propagandist’s bait whole.
See, now you screwed up. They have not "done better". They've lived a lower quality of life. They've suffered greater oppression, and less freedom. They're below us in nearly every imaginable metric. This is different than improving beyond where we were. It's harder to improve when you're already so high.
Not saying China is best but the lives of their citizens have improved significantly more than the lives of Americans citizens over the last 40 years. Yes they have less freedoms but also have less school shootings and violent crime. They government has way our performed the US when it comes to infrastructure and incorporating technology into urban design, planning and construction. The port infrastructure they have is impressive.
The Chinese themselves admit they’re not the best which is why they’re improving tremendously as a nation. They feel they have something to prove. American exceptionalism is brainrot that leads to complacency. Americans look at Chinese people as peasants and are never going to take them seriously until it’s far too late. Sometimes it’s not where you’re at but where you’re heading and the USA is speed running its collapse
I’m not personally but I do want America to experience economic pain because that’s the only thing that will wake Americans up. Without that we just slowly backslide into an authoritarian regime. Most Americans don’t pay attention to the freedoms we are losing but they will if it hurts their pockets. So it’s less about rooting for China and more about understanding there’s a lot at stake here. Also if MAGA hates China as much as they claim they should be against Trump since he aspires to be someone like Xi.
