I lived in China for a period of time. Granted, it was Shanghai. Loved it.

Even there though, people have a traditional saying: "Tomorrow will be better"

The US is light years ahead of this backwards dictatorship/police state.

That's what I got from it. I saw a couple posts saying it was propaganda and was like, "Yeah, but it's spot on, so..... Lol?"

One thing I notice with my fellow Americans is that we're quick to point out other country's propaganda but then live in a fantasy world where we're not propagandized by our own country.

Look at what Trump has done in three months though. Four years is enough time for the rest of the world to move on without us. Countries are already talking to China and making deals.

Even if AOC wins, who says she's going to be able to win these countries back? The rest of the world will just assume that when AOC is finished with her term we'll get another insane far-right president. Trust is going to be very difficult to build back up. May take decades of putting the right people in power.

The only way this country has a future is with the complete destruction of MAGA. They are civilization destroyers. The only direction they can take us in is backwards. Don't take it from me, take it from their leader who constantly praises a time in America's history when we had robber barons and child labor.

Had a gay friend teach in Oman and he said it was awesome. Hot as balls (from an Australian no less) but just a lovely place.

That said Oman is the 7th largest Gas AND Oil producer in the world per capita.

Baller rich. No personal income rich.

Contrast that with China's woeful hydrocarbon resources and it's really an apples and oranges comparison.
 
Regulated free market liberals shouldn't be siding with China just because Trump is being an idiot. It's just as short sighted as he is. Ideally, America could make lower priced, high quality products without screwing the workers.

But that's not the way the current world works. Cheap, unregulated labor/products is the backbone of Walmart and Amazon. Poor people can't afford to buy a 20+ dollar t shirt, or top brand electronics. So 5 dollar clothes and knockoff TVs/etc fill that gap. Take that away, and expect a major shock to the economic infrastructure as a whole.

Short term (possibly 10+ years), decoupling from China will see us in ruins. But long term, it's not a bad idea. Just expect a lot of pain until we learn how to make our own stuff that doesn't cost 3x as much.

That's also assuming we still have our western allies to help supplement. But Trump isn't doing well there. We'll have Russia sending us all the beets we could ever need, though.

It's not. Yemen has more popular and nearly identical climate, geographical access, historical/cultural background, and natural resources. Yet Yemen is a shithole plundered by a former despot who allied himself with those against the evil West. Oman allied themselves with western leaders and businesses.

It's just one more in a million case examples of why capitalism is the greatest road to prosperity man has ever conceived.

Didn't Trump reverse Biden's Chip act? Those would have been manufacturing jobs.

He's gutting the Department of Education. Don't you think it's important to spend more on educating people? Especially if we're going to be teaching them how to use machinery.

Where would we get the machines from to start making stuff? Didn't China put a ban on rare earth materials that they normally sell to us?

How can you convince the GOP to give people a livable wage? You can't even get their voting base to agree on increasing the wages for fast food workers. You think they're going to fight for people making t-shirts?

We side with China because we're realists. Nobody with a brain wants USA to become an isolated third-world shithole, especially if we have to live here with our kids. Some of us are parents and to see Trump throwing away their future is more than infuriating. No family wants to see their child working 12 hour shifts in a dangerous factory. Trump wants to return is to the late 1800s/early 1900s. He said so himself. Take a guess who that time period was good for and who it wasn't good for.

This was completely self-inflicted and there was zero thought put into it. Trump magically thought tariffs would bring back the jobs and he did zero research. I doubt he ever considered any of those questions I laid out.

We won't survive 10 years without violence on the streets, Americans live paycheck to paycheck. What are they going to do over the next 10 years if everything doubles in price? If Trump is out of power the next leader would try to reverse course on day one. We will suffer and it will be for nothing. I just cant see Americans putting up with his for that long.

Sorry for the rant, went longer than I thought lmao. I just can't believe Americans chose this guy AGAIN. I've said this before and I'll say it again but every child should hate their MAGA parents for this.
