Opinion China did it right.

I've been increasingly seeing more and more pro China content in the news and even from posters here. They're learning from Russia and getting better at propaganda and misinformation. Particularly in the US.

There's a reason they're fighting so hard to keep Tiktok in the US.

And also a reason you're seeing more pro China content in your Youtube recommendations. The CCP is literally paying Youtube to have pro China content promoted and recommended. Pro China propaganda used to be corny and obvious, but now much better and more subtle.

NY Times: How China Embraces Russian Propaganda and Its Version of the War

China and Russia are joining forces to spread disinformation
I’m pretty sure it’s also because of people like Speed who are giant social media stars going there and having a good time. USA has portrayed China as a third world shit hole for decades so when people watch their favorite streamer having a blast over there it changes their perspective and makes them question what the media has been saying.

Some parts are third world. And it is a authoritarian shithole. My brother in law and sister visited and told me the place sucked and they hated it.

Certainly the standard of living in China has improved simnifically quicker than here in the US over the last 40 years.
The standard of living in dozens of countries across the world has improved more in that time period because so many of them lived in such squalid conditions a mere four decades ago, and most of them, like China, have the USA to thank for this more than any other nation-- often including their own government.

You're welcome.

Yes, but what you're missing is that there are a ton of scholars and intellectuals who've made the exact same observations internally from observing the United States.

Your mind seems to be stuck on only one possibility... that criticism and especially this criticism is propaganda. This is certainly due to a lack of education.

I think your lack of education has you thinking that there are not serious criticisms to be made and that those criticisms haven't been made for many, many years buy our own citizens and scholars..
You mustve misinterpreted my post, I never claimed this was propaganda just that it could be. I also never disputed the facts of the matter. Im simply describing propaganda in general and commenting on your incomplete definition of it. You seem so focused on my supposed lack of education that maybe you arent reading super clearly. All good.

That’s odd. Most people tend to have a good time that visit. What did they hate about it?

They said they couldn't stand the Fobby rude people hacking, spitting, picking their nose everywhere, there was a lot of pollution and when they went to the Great Wall, they had to use Chinese shit squat toilets. Basically just a hole in the floor and no toilet paper either.

Granted this was like 12 years ago.

Okay weil.you jumped into a conversation where the context I was arguing against was somebody stating it was by necessity propaganda. And I asked if somebody holds similar positions but they came to them through their own reason is that propaganda? And he was saying it's still propaganda and I just didn't know it.

Obviously it's an ignorant argument that denies all scholarship on this level and that's really what I was arguing against.

As far as that Chinese guy, he is doing propaganda, but you know.... propaganda works better when there's some truth mixed in with the lies.

I think those habits will die out with the older generation. They are annoying though. The bathroom thing sucks and it requires some research. You need to carry those little wipes that they sell in almost every convenience store or supermarket. Also shopping malls and western establishments have the toilets we like. Squat toilets can be okay as long as they clean them. Any bus station is going to be terrible. I nearly threw up in those.

Lol! Sorry to break it to you but they are not all peasants. The people in China, because of their government policies, have done better over the last 40 years than the people here in the US. Go ahead and try to split hairs and pull the communist card but it's a fact.

They have also outperformed the US in building modern infrastructure. They have the largest high speed rail system in the world and are leaders in renewable energy projects.

But you think the US government does a better job for their people?

You know what they call Trump in China? "Trump, make China great again."

Like I said, there's a ton of nuance that needs to be said. Do you really think there are no serious economists and scholars who believe that our country has been hollowed out and our middle class ruined by NAFTA??

Have you really never heard opinions on that? Because they are multitudinous.

To pretend that's a propaganda statement from China is just simply uneducated. You don't know enough about political theory to discuss it and that's coming from me. Someone who knows next to nothing.
Look, you’re dodging the point. The propagandist’s claim—‘only China used trade wealth to build’—is a flat-out lie, not some nuanced take on NAFTA. Yes, trade like NAFTA and China’s WTO entry cost manufacturing jobs. Nobody’s denying that hit the middle class. But to pretend the U.S. built nothing with trade wealth is absurd and swallows the propagandist’s bait whole.

The U.S. pumps 2.3 trillion yearly into building. That’s not ‘yachts and mansions’—it’s the internet, AI, transportation networks, space exploration, and global financial systems. China’s ~$1.5 trillion in infrastructure and R&D doesn’t outshine that.

Your NAFTA tangent doesn’t defend the propagandist’s lie—it just muddies the water. Propaganda twists real issues, like trade’s downsides, into exaggerated nonsense to mislead.

See, now you screwed up. They have not "done better". They've lived a lower quality of life. They've suffered greater oppression, and less freedom. They're below us in nearly every imaginable metric. This is different than improving beyond where we were. It's harder to improve when you're already so high.

If you want to look to a country as a beacon to the rest of the world for that date range, in terms doing the best job to improve the quality of their citizen's lives, the country to study is Oman. And what did they do? They secured sprawling contracts with the US government and US companies, and other western capitalist countries. They signed deals that committed foreign companies to teach their workers skills. They reinvested enormous amounts into their infrastructure (not welfare state policies). And they sure as hell didn't flood their country with impoverished Yemeni "migrants" seeking asylum.

Not saying China is best but the lives of their citizens have improved significantly more than the lives of Americans citizens over the last 40 years. Yes they have less freedoms but also have less school shootings and violent crime. They government has way our performed the US when it comes to infrastructure and incorporating technology into urban design, planning and construction. The port infrastructure they have is impressive.

The Chinese themselves admit they’re not the best which is why they’re improving tremendously as a nation. They feel they have something to prove. American exceptionalism is brainrot that leads to complacency. Americans look at Chinese people as peasants and are never going to take them seriously until it’s far too late. Sometimes it’s not where you’re at but where you’re heading and the USA is speed running its collapse

All of a sudden leftists are rooting for China.
I’m not personally but I do want America to experience economic pain because that’s the only thing that will wake Americans up. Without that we just slowly backslide into an authoritarian regime. Most Americans don’t pay attention to the freedoms we are losing but they will if it hurts their pockets. So it’s less about rooting for China and more about understanding there’s a lot at stake here. Also if MAGA hates China as much as they claim they should be against Trump since he aspires to be someone like Xi.
