<mma4>

anyways, reported for derailing.

You just stated Fox News did not report on the trans issue. Don't you get tired of blatantly lying right after you said it?

even fox news respondents didn't mention any of that shit enough for it to register

Are you talking about Irish priests or the muslims?
The UK doesn't have any jurisdiction over Ireland, the crazy fuckers threw us out. I like your idea of taking over again though. I'll send you your Black and Tans membership form in the post. Just give me your address.

The hell? 16 year olds are retards the world over. Every single one of us on this forum were complete morons at 16.
In fairness, it's not a world of difference at 18.

21 should be the standard. That said, there is merit in thinking anybody who pays taxes should be able to vote.

Yea but society has to make an arbitrary number on what is considered an adult. 18 is what everybody agreed on. And if you can die in war and pay taxes, you should get a vote.

Kind of. You guys have some weird arbitrary restrictions on age. You can own a rifle at 18, but not a handgun until you're 21. Make it make sense. The "drinking age/Military age" is another one.

You guys really need to settle on something.

Well I think the drinking age thing is stupid too. However, when stationed overseas, they can drink at 18. Didn't even know about the handgun thing.

Also, all age restrictions are arbitrary by nature.

True, but you'd think we'd be able to settle on something. Even up here, most of us can't drive before 16, but there is a province or two that brings it down to 14. Why? Nobody knows. Just is.

Probably some hick politician a long time ago wanted to bang his cousin.

Not really. Either scenario, trans issues was a factor.

Stop lying. Fox News did story after story on how transgender issues affected the election.

Fox News: How transgenderism in sports shifted the 2024 election and ignited a national counterculture

A national exit poll conducted by the Concerned Women for America (CWA) legislative action committee found that 70% of moderate voters saw the issue of "Donald Trump’s opposition to transgender boys and men playing girls and women’s sports and of transgender boys and men using girls and women’s bathrooms," as important to them.
And 6% said it was the most important issue of all, while 44% said it was "very important."
so just to be sure mods, this ISN'T derailing and i'm free to respond? and my response will also not be derailing?

Next you're going to say 16 year olds can consent to sex with 40 year olds.

Sounds like projection.

16 year-olds have started successful businesses.
16 year-olds have become millionaires in industries (just using that because the US considers this a marker of success)
16 year-olds have revolutionized industries via invention and scientific discovery.
Many of our Grandfathers went to War at 16, mine Vietnam.

I have 2 close friends who were doing Collegiate-level engineering courses in HS. Both got full boat scholarships, one to Florida A&M, one to George Mason. One currently supervises design and build teams at Lockheed, the other builds 5g towers mostly on Government contracts.

Maybe you were a retard, maybe your friends were, I'll give you that. But it means nothing of every other teenager in the World.

So a couple outliers exist, therefore the average 16 year old is mature enough to vote. Makes sense.

Please name any metric by which you generally measure "mature enough to vote"...and be sure to establish why you believe maturity to be a qualifier to receive the right to vote, and I'll advise you to take into consideration whatever metric you're going to use to measure said "maturity" and apply it here, to a small sample pool of people who currently posses the right to vote.

You should've just said that, instead of pointing to a handful of 16 year old's who started businesses and became millionaires. That's not exactly the norm. You can make the argument that they should get a vote, without going to extremes based on an incredibly small list of outliers of successful 16 year old business-teenagers. That doesn't do anything for your point. There are 8 year old geniuses. I don't think we should be basing societal norms around "maturity" on their incredibly rare accolades.

So can a 16 year old make an informed decision to sleep with a 45 year old?

The exception doesn't make the rule. The vast majority of 16 year olds are morons. They don't even know who they are yet. They're children.

Society, as a whole, have to make the arbitrary distinction what age is considered an adult. Most societies on Earth have decided collectively that 18 is the right age.

and some 16 year olds eat tide pods

It's bizarre, the process of voting/ability to vote is quite literally one of the most adult choices one can make. For the vote to count, it requires (outside of blind partisan idiocy) the ability to think logically and critically, and to be able to have a decent view of the overall national picture.

Not only have I seen minimal people who can do that at the current voting age (18) let alone 16, but I also think we need to be super wary about anything that can be seen to be reducing the age of what an 'adult' is. Seems like a dodgy path to follow

They’re using Brexit as reason to give them the vote. It’s now been unveiled the World Economic Forum is doctoring figures around Brexit.
