Volkanovski on Khamzat's Performance: "It's hard to take risks in your first proper 5 rounder."

Imagine thinking Volk knows what he’s talking about lol. He doesn’t know anything. Rando Sherdoggers know more than that. I’d rather read their takes on this than listen to an actual world champions opinion.

At the same time, Volk wasn't trying to gaslight people by pretending it was the most exciting title fight of all time. As per usual, the Aussie GOAT has a sensible take.

Honestly I found it a fascinating fight, I kept expecting Chimaev to eventually gas, he never did though. Probably a boring fight for many though, well whatever, the rest of the card was pretty great.

The same people whining now are still gonna be excited to see Khamzat the next time he fights, he doesn’t even need some big win to get back interest… in a few months people will just remember how dominant he was

Yep, I agree. Since this is a Volk thread I think it's appropriate to mention that a lot of people gave him shit saying his first fight with Max was boring and he played it too safe. Now he's universally loved.

You see it a lot with fighters as they become champions
Start off exciting fighters early in career, then become more boring, safer fighter as a champ
Aldo, GSP, etc

Hopefully it’s just a one off for Khamzat the cuddle wolf
They fight against better fighters than they did before.
Khamzat would finish lesser fighters from every position. DDP is tough af.

No shit its hard, but if you're supposed to be some badass, you take that risk.

No, the one who "takes the risk" is the one getting dominated every second of the fight.

People are such absolute morons. Why would the guy who's easily WINNING change things up to "be more exciting"? People act like he made no attempts to finish the fight. And they have no clue that a super high level opponent like DDP who makes it their ONLY goal after a round of getting ragdolled to NOT be finished is gonna make a fight like that boring.

The responsibility to change the trajectory of the fight is on the one that's clearly LOSING. Had DDP taken chances to try to get to a position to win, it would've opened things up for Khamzat to find a finish. DDP chose survival mode instead and THAT is why we saw what we saw.

Yes. Most people are self absorbed, low IQ, forgetful pissants

of all the cuddle digs taken at him, this is the funniest to me. legit laughing out loud over here

Especially when your opponent isn’t offering any resistance

You do understand that elite fighters who are ONLY fighting to survive and not get finished are...kinda hard to finish, right?

Or maybe you don't since you used the laughing emoji in my last post.

Those calling it boring--I agree with your post in the other thread that people have a right to enjoy the sport on their own terms. Just a bizarre take to blame the guy that's winning for not "doing it differently". The opponent is the one who needs to take chances. Seems kinda obvious...
