Took a week off to recoup some nagging issues in my back and knees. Feeling good now and ready to regain all that I have lost. Linear progression FTW...for the time being.

I used to do a lot of conditioning, I was about 185 or so 10 months ago. LSD and not eating a caloric surplus. I would lift MWF and cardio TTSat. I was also really weak though. Now I'm anywhere from 235-245 on a given day and am much superior to my former self in regards to the big 4.

It is hell trying to find a middle ground so I can be lighter and still increase strength.

How are you felling? Still sickly? You'll smash some PRs when you're recouped.

Damn you sound even more like me I was 185 in feb. I am looking for the middle ground too. i think I will finish the year as best I can then diet down to around 200 and work harder to stay there then this time around.

I am finished being sick finally, thanks for asking.

Glad your knees and back are feeling better.

My goals as well. I have poundage in my head for BS, DL and BP that I must reach before I attempt any short of drop in weight. Time is quickly running out in the year however. Oh well..."it's a marathon, not a sprint"

It is definitely a marathon not a sprint. I did not have set weights I want but decided at year end I will just lose some weight, enough to lower body fat but not enough to kill my strength hopefully.

Maintaining strength is far easier than gaining strength. I'm sure when you hit goal BW you'll still be stronger than me.

Deadlift was the hardest it has ever been for 3 plates. New gym, new bars...with no knurling whatsoever. WTF, every bar in the whole fucking gym has had its knurling sanded down to smooth.

They also have a "no weight dropping" policy, well who the fuck is going to be able to grip this shit and not drop weight. I have hands the size of the guy from the BK commercials...the guy who couldn't hold a whopper, so hook grip is out. Seriously...who the fuck thought of this brilliant idea to sand down the knurling and impose a "refrain from use of chalk policy" (which I promptly ignored after realizing that I was fucked for deads). I have never in my life been so irritated at the douchebags who cater the non-athlete, quarter squats in runners with the foam pad on FTW at this gym.

Anyway, I finished my set forced to use straps. I have never used them, but was impressed with them at any rate. I then went to the hardware store and bought a few 5x4 sheets of 180 grade sandpaper (it's one of the finer grades, as to not rip my hands to shreds). I plan on taking it to the gym, slapping them on an oly bar and taping them there for the duration of my deads.

Everything up to the deadlift was ok. I'm excited to pull next Wednesday and try out my experiment, I just wish I didn't require experimentation to pull weight off the ground.

Yeh I just came from a gym with gay no knurling bars. it sucks bad I feel for you.

Impromptu workout with a buddy. His first time squatting, had decent form but poor depth. Made him go past par and he understood why squats are awesome.

On another note...squats are awesome.

Tried sandpaper grip...huge fail. Tried different chalk...epic success. New chalk FTW.

No press, 1rm is good where it is for now. Bench is an entirely different story, I'm a weak bencher (well I'm weak all over, but especially in the bench press..and dead lift...and squat).

I loathe this shit.
