Ive actually been replacing all my guard work with wrestling. I've found that it is very useful. You can catch a lot of bjj guys off guard because they are not used to it. I have gotten choked quite a bit in the beginning.....but getting better and better as i learn :)

Josh I'll second the DVD request. My first pursuit into catch wrestling was you attacking the guard dvd.....shortly after I bought punishing rides. Would love to add to the collection!

There's a good possibility of this happening. I believe Josh Barnett and Scientific Wrestling have formalised a working relationship recently, based on what I read from Scientific Wrestling.
 
I just found out the Scientific Wrestling guys are coming to Daytona to do a seminar. Has anyone done it before, what should I expect?
 
So Josh Barnett, if you have the time to answer this It would be greatly appreciated. I recently read about you training with Luta livre Master Roberto Leitao. Stating he had "Such a brilliant mind when it comes to working on the mat." I was wondering if you could share your experience more on training with him? Its neat to always hear another perspective on grappling. Any chance of sharing your thoughts or plans for Metamoris 6?

Just thought some might like to see some things like head scissors, Mitch Clarke UFC style tricky bottom Darce choke, Chest Choke...w the elbow pinned so not just what most of u will think, Cobra neck crank, couple mounted 5 finger guillotines.


While I would definitely need to get in with some better guys for a few weeks and boy I do wish I was right now, if Metamoris would put me in the Road to Metamoris under 98 or 99 kg or whatever they should have someday, or maybe EBI so we can still if my soon 38 yr old ass has anything lets find out. Last time I competed when rather ill in 2009 in Kudo World Championships I got 4 takedowns into mount or rear mount in 3 min, and advanced grappling tourney 2009 I did beat a much bigger Dean Lister HW brown after I cut to 208 but still ended up put with the HWs.

Hey Title I actually just saw this on Eriks page, so cool of him to put that up. I have not had net for this week and at a gaming spot now to get online. Of course KJ doing his KJ disparaging things even directly on Erik;s page talking crap, even though obviously I actually grapple and know my stuff unlike him, and just honestly replied to KJ I would have to train a few weeks specifically for a grappling tournament that allowed pins which got his lil girl panties in a bunch in the first place.....

but alas, KJ was going into groups just to disparage me, and showing them my worst example of wrestling to get people to gang up on me....shaddy shaddy stuff KJ. You know, you could try to be bigger KJ and just say something like Nice vid, if Erik posts it I guess you know some stuff.

On a better note anyone ever train w Greg Nelson? I love his clinch stuff, how is he on the ground? I met him at a Bellator, and he said he knows whom I am and watches all my vids. I think a ton of my stuff is way out there for most people, but a lot of it is prob. like oh yeah that to guys 10 yrs older than me that got started earlier in all the cross training like Erik and Greg.

Catch Wrestling politics like usual. Seems like some of the people in this thread are more interested in talking shit about each other than talking about the sport.

KJ and a couple other guys seem to think Dan The Wolfman is the Catch Wrestling Antichrist or something like that and are making it their personal mission to act like petty schoolgirls any time Dan posts videos.

It's just getting really fucking exhausting. KJ, if Dan annoys you that much, USE THE IGNORE FUNCTION! You'll never have to see another one of his posts/videos again! I've made use of it a number of times and it's really nice.

Catch Wrestling United was amazing when it was first made. A small group of grapplers who wanted to discuss and share experiences on the ever elusive style they saw in Japan and the early MMA days. Noone was an expert, people just wanted to share techniques and discuss their rare hobbby.

Those were the days :).
