WASHINGTON (AP) — A Texas man who attacked the U.S. Capitol with a metal tomahawk — and is now the face of a website selling merchandise portraying jailed rioters as “political prisoners” — was sentenced Friday to seven years behind bars.

Shane Jenkins, 46, tried to smash a Capitol window with his tomahawk during the Jan. 6, 2021, siege. He also repeatedly threw makeshift weapons at police officers, hurling a desk drawer, a flagpole, a metal walking stick and a wooden pole with a spear-like point.

Feds ask for three months in prison for GOP ex-gov. candidate Ryan Kelley

Former Michigan GOP gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley should get three months in prison for his participation in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, federal prosecutors argued in a Tuesday night court filing.

Prosecutors outlined Kelley’s actions throughout the day of Jan. 6 2021, and his subsequent social media posts that they say show he shows no remorse for participating in the attack. That day, a violent crowd of rioters broke into the U.S. Capitol building in an attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power from former President Donald Trump to current President Joe Biden, who won the 2020 election.

Prosecutors are asking for three months in federal prison for Kelley, as well as one year of supervised release, 60 hours of community service and $500 to be paid in restitution. The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that about $2.9 million in losses occurred that day and more than 100 police officers were assaulted.

“Every rioter, whether or not they personally engaged in violence or personally threatened violence, contributed to this harm,” the prosecution’s filing reads.

Kelley did not immediately return a request for comment.

Originally facing four misdemeanor charges, Kelley in July pleaded guilty to entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.

Prosecutors submitted photos Tuesday night showing Kelley throughout the day asserting that multiple flash bang grenades exploded near Kelly and he was made well aware he was entering a restricted perimeter during the siege on the U.S. Capitol.

In the past, Kelley has asserted he never entered the Capitol building. Prosecutors say the government hasn’t found any evidence that he ever entered the Capitol.

However, the prosecution submitted several photos of Kelley climbing the scaffolding next to the Northwest stairs, saying he ripped a protective tarp covering the scaffolding.

“Even though his rip of the tarp was relatively modest, it extended an already existing hole in the tarp and widened the opening through which some rioters advanced on the Capitol Building. Rioters overtook police officers at the top of the stairs only minutes after … Kelley’s ripping of the tarp,” the prosecution’s filing said.

In the two hours prosecutors say Kelley remained on restricted Capitol grounds, he waved in rioters to join the crowd in the restricted area, cheering them on.

For two years, Kelley has posted statements on social media “making light” of what happened on Jan. 6, prosecutors argued. They call attention to one Facebook post on Dec. 27, 2021, where Kelley said, “I was in Washington DC on January 6 protesting the government because of the fraudulent 2020 election… doing the right thing.” And they cited another Facebook post on Aug. 12, 2022, in which Kelley wrote, “I did nothing wrong” on Jan. 6.

As part of Kelley’s plea agreement, he faced up to six months in federal prison, prosecutors are asking for three months and imploring the judge not to sentence beneath that amount of time.

Kelley is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 17.

Capitol rioter dubbed "bullhorn lady" sentenced to over 4 years in prison just to own the libs

Washington DC - Rachel Powell, a January 6 Capitol rioter who was infamously dubbed the "Bullhorn Lady," has been sentenced to several years in prison.

According to NBC News, US District Judge Royce Lamberth hit Powell (43) with 57 months in federal prison on Tuesday, only three months shy of five years.

In response to her sentencing, Powell said she is "ashamed" of her actions and admitted that her political views took "a very dark turn" which "led to disaster."

"My conduct was disgraceful," she lamented. "I apologize to my family for the hell they have endured because of me."

Prosecutors presented evidence of Powell "using a bullhorn to instruct others how to further gain control of the Capitol" during the riots and using "a large pipe as a ramming device to breach windows of the Capitol to gain access."

Prosecutors were seeking eight years in prison, arguing she had an "obsession with keeping the disgraced former President in power" and even "conducted surveillance at a female legislator's home" prior to the riots.

Donald Trump, who Powell previously hoped would pardon her, reportedly sent her a personalized hat prior to her sentencing.

i had to bold and size up the best part of this....cheeto benito wouldn't pardon a single one of these muppets and he still hasnt put a single penny onto any of their books or helped them make bail, but he sent one of them a maga hat!

"I went to war for you, i fought like hell for you just to take back our country, and now i'm going to prison for 5 years because of it, and all i got for my troubles was this lousy ass hat!"

to be fair, her last name is powell, so donald trump probabably got his powell's mixed up and he meant it to send that to sidney powell as part of a promotional deal - for every million dollars in donations you raise for him, you get a free hat.

I thought the police guided them into the building. But this guy is going to jail for breaking windows, and letting people in.
Which side am I supposed to believe?

Jan. 6 rioter who wielded 2x4 wooden plank in Capitol sentenced to nearly 3 years in prison

A Colorado man who allegedly hit a police officer with a 2x4 wooden plank during the Jan. 6 riot was sentenced Friday to nearly three years in prison.

Jacob Travis Clark of Colorado Springs was sentenced to 33 months in prison, followed by 12 months of supervised release, the Justice Department said in a news release.

Clark had requested nine months in prison and a period of supervised release, according to a sentencing memo written by his lawyer that said Clark “regretted his actions by January 7th.”

During a bench trial in Washington, D.C., this year, Clark was found guilty of obstructing an official proceeding, a felony, as well as five misdemeanor counts related to his conduct at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

According to court documents, Clark drove to Washington, D.C., a day before the riot and attended former President Donald Trump's rally at the Ellipse, sending a text to his father that read: “It’s a trump thing I’m here for the riots when they say he isn’t the winner lol.”

Clark spent roughly 40 minutes inside the Capitol and was seen in video footage holding a 2x4 wooden plank moments before a U.S. Capitol Police officer was struck with it, the Justice Department said.

He also joined a crowd of rioters who threatened law enforcement, later texting images of the breach saying, “I helped break down the door." He also wrote, “I was the first one in the chamber,” according to court documents.

An attorney for Clark did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday night.

More than 1,100 people have been charged for crimes related to the Capitol riot, according to the Justice Department.

Courtroom scuffle erupts after Capitol rioter resists detention order

U.S. Marshals and FBI agents had to forcibly detain 34-year-old Vitali Gossjankowski after he refused to surrender in court.

WASHINGTON — More than a half dozen U.S. Marshals, FBI agents and court security officers had to forcibly arrest a convicted Capitol rioter Monday after he refused to surrender following a judge's order sending him to jail while he awaits sentencing.

U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman revoked 34-year-old Vitali Gossjankowski's pre-sentencing release Monday after federal prosecutors brought intimidating and harassing messages he'd sent to law enforcement to the court's attention. Gossjankowski was convicted of multiple felony counts in March, including assaulting police, for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Friedman initially allowed Gossjankowski to remain free under supervision until his sentencing date, which hasn't been scheduled. On Monday, he revoked that release — saying Gossjankowski posting the names, phone numbers and emails of law enforcement and prosecutors on social media, as well as calling for the "employment extermination" of the FBI's Washington Field Office, was inciting behavior.

"All of this is extremely troubling," Friedman said. "It's dangerous. It's putting others in danger, including prosecutors and law enforcement. I'm just stunned."

Gossjankowski, who is deaf and was enrolled at D.C.'s Gallaudet University on Jan. 6, 2021, visibly reacted when an ASL interpreter who participated in the hearing via Zoom communicated Friedman's decision. When the hearing ended, Gossjankowski began making low moaning sounds — and when a Marshal approached him to take him into custody, he resisted.

Other Marshals and FBI agents who were in the courtroom rushed to assist, leading to a scuffle in which Gossjankowski, whose large frame towered over several of the officers, dragged multiple men along with him as he tried to reach the courtroom door. As the scuffle threatened to knock over the defense tables, Gossjankowski's attorney attempted to convey him a message on a yellow legal pad while the ASL interpreter looked on helplessly from a monitor, until that too was knocked over.

The courtroom was eventually cleared and Gossjankowski was taken into custody with the assistance of nearly a dozen other Marshals and court security officers who quickly responded. A U.S. Attorney declined to answer whether the Justice Department would consider pursuing additional charges against Gossjankowski related to the scuffle, although prosecutors could be heard discussing whether to collect statements from officers involved in Gossjankowski's arrest.

Prosecutors asked Friedman to revoke Gossjankowski's release after, they said, he repeatedly made intimidating statements toward law enforcement on social media since his conviction. They claimed that behavior has escalated in recent weeks, culminating in a series of text messages sent to a DC Police detective assigned to the FBI task force that worked on Gossjankowski's case.

According to prosecutors, on Oct. 14 and 15 the detective, who helped arrange Gossjankowski’s FBI interview and arrest and who later testified during a hearing in the case, began receiving harassing messages from Gossjankowski’s phone number. The messages allegedly contained antisemitic, homophobic and racist epithets and suggested the officer should be violently sexually assaulted, according to the Justice Department’s filing.

In court Monday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Francesco Valentini showed Friedman even more messages from Gossjankowski's Instagram page in which he again referred to FBI agents and law enforcement in antisemitic and homophobic terms and called them "animalistic subhumans." The posts also contained the names, email addresses and phone numbers of prosecutors, law enforcement and even court staff involved in the case. At least one post urged Gossjankowski's followers to "inundate" Valentini's inbox with messages.

“His behavior has highlighted a complete lack of remorse, a complete failure to accept responsibility and a complete inability to comport himself with the basic requirements of release pending sentencing,” federal prosecutors wrote in their filing.

On Monday, Valentini argued Gossjankowski's behavior had crossed a line and warranted jail.

"What the defendant has done since [conviction] is not just vile, it is not just reprehensible, it is dangerous," he said.

Gossjankowski's sentencing has been delayed because after trial he asked for new counsel. An attorney, Matthew J. Peed, was appointed by Friedman in July to represent him. Peed told Friedman his client was angry because he believed his rights were violated during his arrest, when he claims he was "sexually frisked," and neither Peed nor Gossjankowski's former attorney had brought it to the court's attention.

"His rights, in his view, were extremely violated," Peed said.

Peed described the posts as a "release of steam" brought on by that anger, and said now that Friedman had been made aware Gossjankowski was unlikely to repeat the behavior.

Peed also suggested Gossjankowski's phone might have been compromised at the time the text messages were sent, although he stopped short of arguing it was hacked and didn't deny Gossjankowski had made similar posts on Instagram.

Friedman told prosecutors they should have sought additional restrictions from him after Gossjankowski's conviction, but that the behavior now was too serious to be dealt with by simply ordering Gossjankowski not to post about law enforcement. He noted the rise in threats against judges around the country, including two of his colleagues, Judges Emmet Sullivan and Amy B. Jackson, who had to receive 24/7 security after they received threats. Friedman said he felt he had no choice but to order Gossjankowski held until sentencing, where he will likely face additional prison time.

Theres this fucking idiot who tattooed proud boy on his head!

I watched that recently. It's pretty good.

Interestingly enough, the documentary filmmaker (who happens to be the daughter of Nancy Pelosi) comes across as cordial and very respectful towards the Jan. Sixers, IMO

I think the one thing they all had in common, was that they all had daddy issues.
Go figure.
