Domestic terrorist who attacked AP photographer and police officers is sentenced to 5 years in prison

WASHINGTON (AP) — A deranged magat who attacked an Associated Press photographer and threw a flagpole and smoke grenade at police officers guarding the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was sentenced on Friday to five years in prison just to own the libs.

giphy.gif

Rodney Milstreed, 56, of Finksburg, Maryland, “prepared himself for battle” on Jan. 6 by injecting steroids and arming himself with a four-foot wooden club disguised as a flagpole, prosecutors said.

“He began taking steroids in the weeks leading up to January 6, so that he would be ‘jacked’ and ready because, he said, someone needed to ‘hang for treason’ and the battle might come down to hand-to-hand combat,” prosecutors wrote in a court filing.

A prosecutor showed U.S. District Judge James Boasberg videos of Milstreed’s attacks outside the Capitol. Milstreed told the judge that it was painful to watch his violent acts and hear his combative language that day.

Capitol Police Officer Devan Gowdy suffered a concussion when Milstreed hurled his wooden club at a line of officers.

“January 6th is a day that will be burned into my brain and my nightmares for the rest of my life,” Gowdy told the judge. “The effects of this domestic terrorist attack will never leave me.”

Gowdy told Milstreed that he “will always be looked at as a domestic terrorist and traitor” for his actions on Jan. 6.

“That brings me some peace,” added Gowdy, who has since left the police department.

Prosecutors recommended a prison sentence of six years and six months for Milstreed, a machinist who has worked at oil and gas facilities.

In a letter addressed to the judge before sentencing, Milstreed said he understands the “wrongfulness” of his actions on Jan. 6 and has learned from his “mistakes.”

“I realize if one has concerns or grievances with the government, there are peaceful and appropriate ways to express them,” he wrote.

Milstreed was arrested in May 2022 in Colorado, where he had been working. He pleaded guilty in April to assault charges and possessing an unregistered firearm.

A cache of weapons and ammunition found at Milstreed’s Maryland home included an unregistered AR-15 rifle. In his Colorado hotel room, investigators found 94 vials of what appeared to be illegal steroids.

Angry about the 2020 presidential election results, Milstreed spewed violent, threatening rhetoric on social media in the weeks leading up to the Jan. 6 attack. In late December, he emailed a Maryland chapter of the Proud Boys to inquire about joining the far-right extremist group.

On the morning of Jan. 6, he took a train into Washington, then attended Orange Cosby's “Stop the Steal” rally near the White House and then followed the crowd of the orange rapists supporters to the Capitol.

Milstreed was “front and center” as rioters and police fought for control of the Capitol’s West Plaza, prosecutors said. He tossed his wooden club at a police line and struck the helmet of an officer who later was treated for a concussion.

A video captured Milstreed retrieving a smoke grenade from the crowd of rioters and throwing it back at police across a barricade.

Milstreed then joined other rioters in attacking an AP photographer on the Upper West Plaza. He grabbed the photographer’s backpack and yanked him down some steps.

“After the photographer stumbled to the bottom of the stairs, Milstreed shoved him and advanced toward him in a threatening fashion,” prosecutors wrote.

Milstreed used Facebook to update his friends on the riot in real time.

“Man I’ve never seen anything like this. I feel so alive.” he wrote to one friend, sharing photos of blood on a floor outside the Capitol.

He told another Facebook friend that it “felt good” to punch the photographer, whose assault was captured on video by another AP photographer.

Other rioters have been charged with attacking the same photographer. One of them — Alan Byerly, 55, of Pennsylvania — was sentenced last October to two years and 10 months in prison.

More than 1,100 people have been charged with Jan. 6-related federal crimes. Over 650 of them have been sentenced, with roughly two-thirds of them getting a term of imprisonment ranging from three days to 22 years.

More than 100 police officers were injured during the riot.

MAGA Trash rioter who punched officer and stole his shield sentenced to almost 3 years just to own the libs

Jonathan Munafo punched the officer so hard it “caused the officer’s head to snap back,” prosecutors said.

A New York state magat who attacked a police officer in the Jan. 6 riot and stole his shield was sentenced to almost three years in prison Friday, federal prosecutors said.

One of the punches that Jonathan Munafo, 36, swung "appears to have caused the officer’s head to snap back," the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington said in a statement.

Munafo was sentenced to 33 months in prison, or two years and nine months.

Munafo, of Albany, also stole the officer’s shield as the mob of supporters of the election-losing orange rapist attacked police and entered the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

He pleaded guilty in April to two federal felony charges — assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers and civil disorder. In addition to attacking the officer, he used a flag to try to smash a window at the Capitol.

Munafo has been in custody for 29 months already since he turned himself in and was arrested in April 2021, his defense attorney wrote in a sentencing memorandum.

He was also already sentenced to two years in prison in a Michigan case in which he repeatedly called an emergency dispatch center on Jan. 5, 2021, identifying himself as "Yankee Patriot" and demanding to speak to a Calhoun County sheriff's official, the federal prosecutor's office there said. He made 143 calls and at one point said "I’m gonna cut your throat."

this chud right here got caught end after he used a picture of himself at the capitol during the riots as his profile picture on twitter and ended up getting snitched out by his so-called friend of 20 years. the feds were then able to identify him in the footage they had of the riots and then arrest him.

You know what.. this is purely anecdotal and far from anything conclusive, but I do know some people with confirmed mental health issues. They vary from lacking internal logic to "batshit fucking crazy you actually had child protection services in your house because there were concerns you weren't feeding your kids"

All of the have something in common- they are Trump supporters. I think the factor that draws them to him is his disregard for policy and limits of power- they see him as "someone who just wants to get shit done"

Ex-sheriff's deputy pleads guilty to assaulting one officer on Jan. 6, will go to trial on assault of another

Ronald Colton McAbee pleaded guilty to punching a DC Police officer, but claims he was intending to help another.

WASHINGTON — A former sheriff’s deputy pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot on Monday, but will go to trial next week on a second count of assault.

Ronald Colton McAbee, 29, of Unionville, Tennessee, appeared in federal court Monday morning alongside his attorney Benjamin Schiffelbein to plead guilty to one felony count of assaulting and officer and one misdemeanor count of engaging in an act of physical violence on Capitol grounds. McAbee acknowledged he struck a DC Police officer in the head and torso while he was moving toward another officer who had been pulled out of the Lower West Terrace Tunnel and was being assaulted by other rioters.

McAbee will begin trial next week on the remaining counts against him, including a second, more serious, count for allegedly assaulting the downed officer while wearing gloves with metal-reinforced knuckles. Schiffelbein said McAbee intends to take the stand and argue that, although he pleaded guilty to assaulting the first officer seconds prior, he was intending to render aid to the second officer who had been pulled into the crowd.

In furtherance of that argument, Schiffelbein asked U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras to allow him to enter evidence of McAbee performing CPR 10 minutes later on Rosanne Boyland, a 34-year-old woman who collapsed near the entrance of the tunnel and was pronounced dead on scene. A D.C. medical examiner determined Boyland died of acute amphetamine intoxication. Prosecutors have sought to bar evidence about Boyland from the trial. Contreras said Monday he would take the matter under advisement.

McAbee, who was a deputy with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee on Jan. 6, was arrested in August 2021 and indicted alongside six other men in connection with assaults on police officers near the Lower West Terrace Tunnel entrance during the Capitol riot. One of those co-defendants, Michael Lopatic, of Pennsylvania, died in July 2022 while awaiting trial. The remainder have been convicted or pleaded guilty – mostly recently Clayton Ray Mullins, 54, of Kentucky, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to helping other rioters drag the downed officer McAbee is accused of assaulting in the crowd. In July, Peter Stager, of Arkansas, was sentenced to four years in prison for beating that officer wit ha flagpole while he was lying on the ground.

McAbee will be sentenced on the two counts he pleaded guilty to and any remaining counts that result in conviction at trial on Feb. 29. He will receive credit toward any sentence imposed for the more than two years he has already served in pretrial detention since his arrest.

A former cop goes and assaults two cops just because a billionaire conman told them that he was robbed. You HAVE to be a cult member to believe and follow a lie of that magnitude.

Prison is real.

Jan. 6 defendant who wanted to arrest 'the traitors' to 'protect the Capitol' sentenced to four years

A defiant Ed Badalian repeatedly interrupted his sentencing judge and told the U.S. Marshals who took him into custody they had the duty to resist unconstitutional orders.

WASHINGTON — A conspiracy theorist convicted of felony Capitol riot charges told a federal judge at his sentencing on Tuesday that he wanted to "protect the Capitol" by "arresting the traitors" on Jan. 6 before being sentenced to more than four years in prison.

Ed Badalian, of California, said during his sentencing on Tuesday that he was "frustrated" that officers protecting the Capitol on Jan. 6 "did not join us in arresting the traitors," referring to members of Congress who did not overturn the 2020 presidential election on Donald Trump's behalf.

Badalian was convicted in April of conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, obstruction of an official proceeding and a misdemeanor count. Evidence showed that he organized paintball training sessions after Trump’s 2020 election loss and was preparing for war. He made it to the lower west terrace tunnel on Jan. 6 and into the suite of Senate hideaway offices that were ransacked by rioters.

The FBI is searching for an East Naples man convicted of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection as his sentencing looms.

Court records indicate the sentencing for Christopher Worrell, 52, will be rescheduled before U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth. Andrea Aprea, spokesperson for the FBI, confirmed the search, but referred further questions to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The U.S. Attorney's Office did not immediately respond to inquiries.

Court records indicate Worrell's sentencing, which was set for Friday, is cancelled.

The FBI did not respond as to how long Worrell has been missing or what prompted the search. Worrell has been on house arrest since he was released from custody November 2021 in Washington, D.C.

https://www.naplesnews.com/story/ne...ing-after-capitol-mob-conviction/70609753007/

he was already on house arrest so he obviously ripped off his ankle monitor and fucked off

this dude is so fucked when they nab him. they'll keep him in jail until his sentencing day and then send him directly to prison now that he's made himself a flight risk. he'll get handed down everything the prosecutors ask for and then some. and up until that happens, his life is going to be miserable as fuck while living on the lamb.

well, this next contestant on Play Stupid Games managed to elude the law for just over a month. hope it was worth it. its going to be a one way trip straight to the iron bars hotel for you pal. do not pass go. do not collect $200. not so proud are ya now, boy?

Jan. 6 fugitive who assaulted officers was captured by the FBI after returning home

Christopher Worrell, a Florida Proud Boy, was added to the FBI Wanted list after he fled just ahead of his scheduled sentencing last month. He was convicted in May.

WASHINGTON — A Florida Proud Boy convicted of assaulting law enforcement officers with pepper gel spray was captured by the FBI on Thursday night after he went on the lam just ahead of his scheduled sentencing last month.

Christopher Worrell was arrested "when he attempted to covertly return to his home" in Naples, Florida, the FBI's Tampa Field Office said in a statement.

"FBI agents quickly surrounded and then entered the residence. They discovered the 52-year-old unconscious and immediately provided medical attention," the statement said. Worrell remains at an area hospital, the FBI said.

Night-vision goggles, $4,000 in cash and survivalist gear were found inside Worrell's residence, according to the FBI, which thanked the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the arrest.

Worrell had been convicted on seven counts at a bench trial before U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth in May. Prosecutors were seeking a sentence of 14 years in federal prison, which would be among the longest sentences given to a Jan. 6 defendant to date. The longest sentence so far was given to former Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio, who received 22 years in federal prison after being convicted of seditious conspiracy.

Worrell, prosecutors wrote in their sentencing memo, arrived in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6 "ready for battle, wearing body armor, and carrying pepper gel spray and a large radio" and then "spewed vitriol for half an hour at the overwhelmed officers restraining the mob" before assaulting officers with pepper spray.

"When confronted with this conduct at trial, Worrell showed no remorse. Instead, though under oath, he spun falsehood after incredible falsehood in an effort to deflect responsibility and cast himself as a hero intervening to protect the police. He told these lies without shame," prosecutors wrote. "Worrell’s dishonesty on the stand was only one of many instances where he has apparently lied to benefit himself or to escape responsibility for his own misconduct."

he wanted to play some more stupid games. now he's gonna win some stupider prizes. with any luck the judge will just decide that this idiot has wasted enough of the court and law enforcements time and agree with the 14 year sentence the prosecutors were recommending.

I agree with what you are saying but you have to have more strict rules when storming the Capital. It's common sense.

i find that during an insurrection it's generally in good practice to knock the snow off your boots and wipe away the blood splatter from the cops that you beat down before you go inside and lynch your vice president and speaker of the house. somebody else behind you could take a slip on your tracks and fall down and hurt themselves on their way in.

sometimes a little common courtesy goes a long way while you are taking back your country. and another good rule of thumb for when you are constructing a makeshift gallows to peacefully and patriotically hang your vice president on is to always measure twice, cut once.

MAGA Trash Capitol rioter who attacked cameraman and police officer gets 4 and a half years in prison just to own the libs

giphy.gif

A filthy magat who attacked a police officer and a Reuters cameraman during the U.S. Capitol riot was sentenced on Wednesday to more than four years in prison.

Shane Jason Woods, 45, was the first chud to be charged with assaulting a member of the news media during the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Woods, of Auburn, Illinois, took a running start and tackled the Reuters cameraman “like an NFL linebacker hunting a quarterback after an interception,” federal prosecutors wrote in a court filing.

Woods also attacked and injured a Capitol police officer who was 100 pounds (45 kilograms) lighter than him, according to prosecutors. He blindsided the officer, knocking her off her feet and into a metal barricade. The next day, the officer was still in pain and said she felt as if she had been “hit by a truck," prosecutors said.

“Woods’ actions were as cowardly as they were violent and opportunistic," prosecutors wrote. "He targeted people smaller than him who did not see him coming. He attacked people who had done nothing whatsoever to even engage with him, let alone harm or block him.”

Prosecutors said they tried to interview the cameraman but don’t know if he was injured.

After playing stupid games at the Capitol, the magat collected his stupid prize as U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta sentenced Woods to four years and six months of incarceration just to own the libs. Prosecutors had recommended a prison sentence of five years and 11 months.

Woods, who ran an HVAC repair business, was arrested in June 2021 and pleaded guilty to assault charges in September 2022.

He also has been charged in Illinois with first-degree murder in the death of a woman killed in a wrong-way car collision on Nov. 8, 2022.

While free on bond conditions for the Jan. 6 case, Woods was pulled over for speeding but drove off and fled from law enforcement. Woods was drunk and driving in the wrong direction down a highway in Springfield, Illinois, when his pickup truck slammed into a car driven by 35-year-old Lauren Wegner, authorities said. Wegner was killed, and two other people were injured in the crash.

Woods was injured in the crash and was taken to a hospital, where a police officer overheard him saying that he had intentionally driven the wrong way on the highway and had been trying to crash into a semi-trailer truck, according to federal prosecutors. He remains jailed in Sangamon County, Illinois, while awaiting a trial scheduled to start in January, according to online court records.

"Just like on January 6, Woods’ behavior was cowardly, monstrous, and devoid of any consideration of others," prosecutors wrote.

Woods was armed with a knife when he joined the mob of the orange rapists supporters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 and disrupted the joint session of Congress for certifying Democrat Joe Biden's 2020 electoral victory over the disgraced republican incumbent. Orange Cosby had earlier that day addressed the crowd of his supporters at a rally near the White House, encouraging them to “fight like hell.”

More than 1,100 people have been charged with Jan. 6-related federal crimes. Approximately 800 of them have pleaded guilty or been convicted by juries or judges after trials in Washington, D.C. Over 650 have been sentenced, with roughly two-thirds of them receiving terms of imprisonment ranging from three days to 22 years, according to an Associated Press analysis of court records.
